... Japan - a country with a long and rich history of tea culture. While I had in mind to spend some time and money on a traditional cup of tea I was very happy to encounter a variety of tea in different places, styles, and flavors. This cup was kind of unexpected during lunch. In this place you sit at the counter which runs around the cooking place in the middle. You can self-serve yourself to a cup of green tea and while I didn't really know how to proceed I absolutely wanted the experience. Encouraged by the sight of tea cups in front of other guests I grabbed a cup and started to fill in the green tea powder until it seemed the right amount. Now, I looked for hot water, maybe in a thermos jug? Since, I didn't see any I glanced at the person behind the counter who was busy cooking and didn't take notice of anything else. I looked around some more, determined to get this right on my own, and, well, as you can see on the photo I ended up being successful in preparing my tea. ☆ But can you guess what Japanese gimmick helped me out? ☆ Let me know in the comments if you have encountered something similar. I'll let you know my solution in the next picture post.
