... This cosy little waterfall at Goa Rang Reng has a nice natural pool on top and you can climb downwards on the side as it has a gentle angle.
At the top you also see the cave, where Balinese natives will offer their daily canang sari to the divine order, small palm leaf baskets, which are replaced daily, not to ask for favors, but out of gratitude.
Those small baskets are quite elaborative to make (I tried in a workshop and failed) and have a deeper meaning, my description being a very simplified one:
Those baskets are literally called a beautiful purpose and consist of:
A basket made of palm leaf, representing the body
A bed of betel leaf, lime and gambier, the tri-premana, representing deeds, word and mind
Rice, a symbol of life in Bali, representing the spirit, the breath of life
Snacks, sugarcanes, bananas, representing the circle of birth, life, and death
Eight leaves arranged in a circle, symbolizing the wheel of life consisting of prosperity, fertility, luck, health, knowledge, strength, progeny, and power
Flowers, representing peace and sincerity of the heart,
white ones pointing east as a symbol of ultimate reality, red ones pointing south as a symbol of creation, yellow ones pointing west as a symbol of success, blue or green ones pointing north as a symbol of preservation, flower mix in the center representing the five gross elements space, fire, water, air and earth
Potpourri, a mixture of dried petals and spices, with some having a pleasant fragrance and some with no fragrance at all, like life being not always happy or difficult, representing wisdom
Peelings, symbol of good attitude and behavior and looking beneath
Fragrant oil, symbol of peace of mind and self-control
A coin or banknote, its perfection, showing generousity, and the sari or essence of the offering
How incredible! Would love to swim/relax/meditate there. I bet the peaceful energy from nature all around you is vibrating so powerfully. Enjoy!
That’s the beauty of Bali, one moment you are amidst the turmoil of the town, then you take one step back and get lost in the Jungle. I’m truly grateful for the experience 🙏
Amazing shot!!
