US stocks rose as strong earnings reports from McDonald's and a slate of merger announcements lifted sentiment, while inflation worries were kept in check after tepid data on US income and spending. The main indices are on track to record their first monthly gain since January as strong quarterly earnings take the lead. All eyes will be on the Federal Reserve which holds its next monetary policy meetings tomorrow and Wednesday, while Apple is also in focus as it releases corporate results for Q1 after market close Tuesday.
