The Red Foundation, which is leading the product red campaign, was created by the lead singer Bono (Paul David Hewson) of the Irish rock band U2.
Bono was shocked by Africa's poor reality when he visited an Ethiopian orphanage in 1985. Bono, who thought, " This kind of poverty doesn't happen by accident, " has since come to Africa to human rights.

In 2006, it established the Red Foundation to raise funds for the fight against AIDS and started a product red campaign for companies around the world. He judged that connecting the donation with the products people use on a daily basis would arouse interest in the anti-immune movement, and thus would bring profits. It was a so-called Cause cause marketing . that connects social movements with corporate interests.
" Why not buy a red one when everyone wants to buy a cell phone, iPod, T-shirt and jeans. That's the idea of Red. "
Bono appeared on the Larry King show and said, " It was shocking to see that 5,000 Africans were dying every day from a preventable, therapeutic disease, " adding, " So we're saving money for the global fund. " He was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2003, 2005, and 2006.
