Good article. I always thought that Apple committed missteps when it always tied the software it wrote to the hardware it manufactured. You couldn't run the software without buying an Apple device to run it on. It seemed like they were obsessed with creating monopolistic markets to drive up the prices they could charge for their hardware. And we still see that today. Want to develop apps for the Apple App Store? Well, unless you own an Apple desktop or laptop, you can forget about it.
