After 15 months since I first set up my Aquaponics system I am a complete convert and am amazed by my results.Firstly I am not an expert in gardening or fish keeping and have made plenty of mistakes in my journey in Aquaponics losing quite a few fish along the way. These losses were caused by (I believe) a lack of oxygen due to power failure, remedied by a battery powered backup air pump and I suspect chlorine poisoning from leaving hose running too long oops! I get a bit forgetful at times . I will add a float valve to my sump tank to eliminate this from happening again.
My system consists of two 1000 litre IBC's and six 900x900x300 shower bases I got for free.I have 1 jade perch (sole survivor from my first fish purchase) feeding 2 shower bases 1 has a ginger plant and lots of self seeded basil the other has a 8 foot high pawpaw tree some rosemary and a strawberry. The other IBC has 40 jade perch feeding 3 shower bases with parsley, sage, lemon grass, shallots, carrots and some more self seeded basil.Jade Perch are an Australian native fish well suited for Aquaponics and an excellent table fish.

Congrats on your first post. I also have an aquaponics setup in Texas. I started with 50 coppernose bluegill fish and have35 left. We ate the others at about 1 pound. I have 10'x11' greenhouse from harbour freight. I have lettuce, celery, tomatoes and mint currently growing.
I will post photos on separate post.
Thanks texasgringo looking forward to seeing your photos I ❤️ seeing other people's backyard setups
cool setup! did you get both the IBC's and the shower bases for free? What are you using to filter the pump in the sump?
The shower bases were free and that put me on the Aquaponics path the ibc' were 150$aud and 50$aud for a honey ibc and linseed oil ibc and if I bought again I would pay the extra 100$ for the honey one as the linseed oil was a bitch to clean out . Atm I have no filter on my sump pump as it is designed to handle small solids but does cause occasional blocking of the pipes.got the sump pump from Bunnings (Australian super hardware store) for 99$ (10000 litres/hour) and is powerful enough to add more growbeds in fact have already added a nutrient flow system last weekend
