Today we are taking a look at the Colony airdrop for staked GLX, and how the distribution will increase over the next four years. This is a topic I wanted to talk about for a long time, but was unsure under which format to present this information. Soon we will enter Year 2 of the airdrop, where things start to get interesting, so I want to detail how much Colony you could earn if you staked 1 million GLX at the start of year 2. I will present two models, one presenting a raw amount of Colony earned through the airdrop, and one model that assumes the Colony earned after each year is converted to staked GLX, and will present the total amount of GLX at the end. We will assume for the sake of the example that total staked GLX amount remain constant, and that the price ratio between Colony and GLX remains the same. So please take the results with a grain of salt.
I have calculated that 1 million staked GLX earns you approximately 200 Colony per day currently, in year 1 of the airdrop. As that number triples, we will calculate 600 Colony per day earned during year 2. That is 219 000 Colony for the year, or 336 000 GLX. That is a 33.6% return for the year at current prices. Under the first model, you would then earn 438 000 Colony on Year 3, then 730 000 Colony on Year 4, and finally 1 314 000 Colony on Year 5.
Under the second model, you would start Year 3 with 1.336M GLX staked, earning you 585 000 Colony on Year 3, which converts (in theory) to 897 000 GLX. You would start Year 4 with 2.233M GLX staked and earn 1.63M Colony during Year 4, which converts to 2.5M GLX. You would start Year 5 with 4.733M GLX staked, and earn 6.219M Colony during Year 5, which converts to 9.541M GLX. You would end the airdrop with an incredible total of 14.274M GLX, over 14x the original amount.
Those are truly mind boggling numbers. Is it really this good? I will let you all reach your own conclusions based on the numbers provided. A lot can change in four years, the price of GLX could rise and Colony could plummet, which would skew the calculations. But as we move into this second airdrop year, those that use the airdrop to further increase their staked GLX position stand to gain tremendously. This is not financial advice and I want to contain my bullishness, especially when it comes to GLX. Still, it is hard not to get excited about those numbers. I am hoping for some good times ahead!!
