It's one of the disturbing things about getting old, realizing that adults are young enough to be your kids...
Just think counterstrike, or call of duty, or team fortress. and go back 20+ years of graphics and controls.....
I think Quake was the first true over the internet multiplayer FPS. There are still some people who play it today....

These games reek longevity! But I guess it speaks about how detailed they were made for their time and how great a fanbase of players can be. How many people still play Diablo 2 instead of 3 and many more examples like that? Old School Runescape too!

I think part of the beauty of quake was they would let you mod the levels and skin your player. I played as fred flintstone quite a bit.... lol. You could mod on elder scrolls as well, at least in mirrowind (last one I played)
Wow I didn't know that! I guess modding really was there when old games were booming as well!
lol, yes I think Quake was the first game where you could actually host them over the internet. Doom just before it you had to be on the same physical LAN. Nerds have pretty much hacked and modded since computers first started.
