Liverpool Lime Street railway station #monochromemonday

in #architecturalphotography7 years ago (edited)

This is Liverpool Lime Street railway station.
This iconic terminus was built in the 19th century (1836).
It has been the departure point for many Liverpudlians and the arrival point for countless Beatles fans coming to visit the Cavern Club

The architectural style is similar to other British railway stations of the same era.
Neither Grecian or Gothic it drew rather on a range of Classical influences

This photograph was taken from the top floor of a hotel we stayed in when we visited the city to attend my son-in-law's graduation from his MBA course.

With the black and white, you can almost expect to see old cars going around there!

I expect to see the Queen....never mind old cars....tea?

It is a very regal looking building considering it's a train station.
They seemed to take more care in designing public buildings back then?

And you expect to see the odd Beatle knocking about too lol
That's why I added the video of the Cavern Club.:)

I really like the b&w photo....funny how that changes the ambience and story.

B&W certainly changes the way we interpret images. It has a timelessness to it.

I'm not sure which photograph I prefer, they are both beautiful! I can see so much history in that intersection.

It has seen it's fair share of world class pop stars crossing this intersection.
Ringo just got a knighthood today!

They are both great but I confess it is the colored one that speaks to me:)

The colour photo seems to give it more 'life' if you know what I mean?

more warmth and character.

I agree, some things benefit from a splash of colour.
Black and white is more austere. Great for portraits.

And moody poetry writers ... lol:)

You said it lol of course yours are lovely too.

they both look good. the black and white seems like taken from many years back while the colored is for the modern world

Yes, you are right. The black and white seems to come from a much older time.

I had the opportunity to visit Liverpool and I loved it. Its structure, the sea, the shopping centers and the beatles street. It's funny because when I passed by that street there were people singing and dancing songs of them. I love that even people are still alive. Regards!

Yep it's quite surprising to walk down that street and see that the Cavern Club is still there and still has new bands performing daily.

How well the big ones are born xx

The B&W picture feels like looking into the past.

It sure does and if we cropped out the vehicles and newer buildings. The illusion would be complete.

Always attractive and lovely Photographs you shoots my friend @molometer. keep it up.

Thanks, I appreciate your support and kind comments.

nice photo and I agree with most of the comments that the black and white almost looks like the past

I wish everything was as pure and clean as black and white. Eline has taken a nice picture of health.Thank you.@molometer

Thanks new.diak things do often look better in black and white.

I don't understand this part of the comment.

"Eline has taken a nice picture of health"?

hand health. You have a beautiful picture.

Thank you but 'hand health'? lol what does it mean?
Maybe something got lost in translation?

I prefer black and white Liverpool 👍

It has a certain feel to it. Monochrome does that.

thanks for the view .. I enjoyed these photos.
congrats on your son's graduation.

Thank you Rebecca, he worked very hard to get it while holding down a full time job as well. He's a star.

I can only imagine... well he is young they have the energy.
