As the title says, you are looking at what is considered the world's smallest cathedral.
It does not actually contain the seat of a bishop of Nin today, but it used to be a court chapel for the nearby Duke's Court, during the reign of Croatian Kings. A number of medieval graves were discovered around the church.
According to a theory from an art historian Mladen Pejaković, the design has an intentionally unbalanced elliptical form designated to "follow" the position of the Sun, retaining the functionality of a calendar and sundial.

It was built in the 9th century, in the Early Christian period. It is the only religious object in Nin which has remained untouched since its construction to date. It is 7.80 m long, 7.60 m wide, and 8.20 metres in height (inside measures) and the walls are 57cms thick...
The image was taken shortly after the sunrise while the chruch was bathed with the warm morning light...
Hope you like it.
Cheers,
Nino.
Such a powerful place, it's not the size of your assets but the size of your faith.

That is the oldest church in Croatia.
In the photograph it is appreciated that it is beautiful.
I called my attention the name, since the Church to which I go is called Chapel of the Holy Cross.
It is beautiful. The interior currently holds only a couple of bird nests :)
Waw first amazing photography, what are the criteria for a building to be called a cathedral? Is is dependent on its size and capacity or something else? Because I thought it was depending on the size of the structure
Here's the ''definition''
''A cathedral is the seat of the bishop and a centre of worship and mission. The primary purpose of a cathedral is to be a place of Christian worship but it is also often the oldest building in continuous use in its surrounding area and of significance to the heritage, culture and community life of the area it serves.''
Good news, apparently size doesn't matter :)
