Olá (Hello in Portuguese).
There is something to share, today. This is a Shift Light Module that is used for rev. lights but this unit can also be used for information about fuel or other options.Lets talk about the Shift Light Module and i will start now.
The Arduino Nano and the Box below
This box has a story; it was a power bank and had the perfect dimensions for a sim racing aplication. Even the hole for the usb power was pre made. Everything in a compact design!
As this is a test unit and my aim is to develop a final version i hope we can agree that a standard box with no labels would make a better representation of i am trying to achieve here!
I´ll show you the final product
This unit is inspired on the Motec Shift Lights Module.
It uses an Arduino Nano to plug it all. The WS2812b RGB Leds connect directly to the Arduino and is all placed inside the box. It has never failed me, always displaying the information that is supposed (in this case the fuel percentage).
Like it was said, i can use this for a number of aplications but i use it manly to get information on the fuel percentage. Let´s say i have the tank´s car full; it will display all the LEDS with light. The LEDS start to dim and changing color when the fuel drops in quantity.
On the next photo we can see the unit being prepared for testing, after the final job.
The unit itself has 9,5 cm Length x 2,4 cm Height x 2,1 cm Width. It is made out of rigid ABS plastic with a single laser cut in the front for eight LEDS.
I mean, this is it.
On closing the post i point to two factors;
- The unit is compact and can be coupled to the Gear Shift Register or any other item.
