Arsenal forward Alexandre Lacazette made his first start for the Gunners since January and netted a double alongside fellow teammate Aaron Ramsey as they strolled pass visiting CSKA Moscow 4-1 in their Europa League quarter-final first leg at the Emirates.
The Gunners made a good start in the course of the game, and were in front as early as the ninth minute through Welshman Ramsey. This early goal triggered a spontaneous push for the for Russian club as they pulled level after Aleksandr Golovin curled a superb free kick into the top corner in the 15th minute.
Arsenal fought on to show dominance and were rewarded with a penalty when Mesut Ozil was clumsily brought down in the penalty area. Lacazette stepped forward and converted the spot kick in the 23rd minute taking the lead again.
Aaron Ramsey who had a spectacular night scored the third goal of the night for the Gunners in the 28th minute sending wild noise around the arena with Arsenal fans chanting to the delight of the players and the visitors.
CSKA Moscow really was in for a real thrashing as the Gunners were not done scoring for the night as Lacazette steered home a fourth in the 35th minute to make it 4-1.
It was a good outing for the Gunners as they made a fifth successive victory in all competitions to put themselves on the verge of a first European semi-final in nine years.
