Figured I'd get my feet wet with this platform. I'm not exactly one for blogging necessarily or writing up long posts, but I'm an amateur artist trying to improve his skills with the hopes that one day I might have the ability to illustrate all the crazy ideas I have swirling around in my head. Specifically I'd like to create a graphic novel or comic for a story I've been brainstorming for about 13 years now. I'm currently in the process of working out the style I want to achieve drawing girls, then I plan on moving to guys and general anatomy. Also, I love graffiti art, and while I don't actually go out and paint it illegally or anything, I've been drawing graff for about 10 years now. Here's a few samples of things I've done in the past:
A messy portrait I did about 2 years ago of Richard Armitage as Thorin Oakenshield from The Hobbit overcome with dragon sickness.
One of my older graffiti sketches, It says Grae. I write Aether now as my name suggests.
And just some elf girl I drew from the imagination as practice. This one is digital. Done in Photoshop.
Hopefully Steemit can be another good platform for me to document my journey as an artist trying to achieve his goals. We will see. =]
Welcome to steemit, I find this is a great place to keep you accountable and to document your journey as you stated. I love your work, I too have been trying to figure out what style suits me best. I started out working with anatomy, and am now working on a psychedelic cow in a sunflower field. Here is my work of a ballerina that I did a few years ago
Thanks, and great work! I've got a long way to go learning anatomy. I'm just a terrible procrastinator so I haven't really delved into it fully yet.
I can't wait to see what else you do. I'm going to follow you, maybe you won't procrastinate as much :-)
Ah thanks! I'll give you one back seeing as you're the very first. It's tough to keep up the motivation and drive to improve as I have a health condition that can be a real pain to deal with at times, but I'm still holding on to my aspirations.
Life always gets in the way, but you are very talented so never give up :-).
Aloha and welcome to Steemit =)
You don't have to write little books for your blog, just write some words about the drawings you did or why you did sth and that is just fine. I think its sometimes good when there isn't a big text for some images because sometimes you just want to view some nice pictures and read a little bit about them and not the whole life story ;-)
So I wish you the best for achieving your goals =)
Nice work graphite or charcoal?
Thanks! It was done with graphite. I used a 2H and 2B pencil if I remember correctly.
