As an artist, the paper is your world. You can create whatever you feel and express it on that white paper. I have discovered that their is diversification in every artist out there as a result of the fact that they are all able to see things differently. That's why most artist use different techniques and they have unique results in their own way. That's the Fantastic myth of being an artist. Everytime i pick up the pencil i feel this connection with the pencil so we find it easy to give out amazing result. I was thinking and i got the idea that Art is just like Life. The white sheet of paper is your world and can make it be whatever you want it to be. When you start sketching or creating an image,(that represent the part you choose and trying to make it work). It won't make any sense during the process (just like everything you choose to start). You might even get tired during the process by learning to see things differently it become less challenging and at the end you get what you want (self Actualization). This is your world and the pencil is in your hand.

Today steemian,i will give you some tips like i use to but very slowly this time to be able to successfully completed a smile on a beautiful Lady. By the way,its just a freehand sketch not a professional drawing.so let's get started shall we? 😊

STEP 1
For this sketch i made use of ( Staedler pencil, cotton board, eraser)

At the first process, i use H grade to sketch the shape of the image. Right here i was dealing with the ( eyes and nose). I first apply 6B for the eye lashed and the eye brow. For the nose i applied 2B for the first layer and i blend it with my cotton board and i created the dark portion on the middle with 4B and i blend it more than once to reduce the thickness. Also if you pay close at attention to the details you will realise i left a small portion untouched that's to indicate where the ray of light is resting upon.

STEP 2
I create the top part of the lips with "Hatching" using 4B and i blend as well. Coming to the down part i use B and you can see me blending it with the cotton board. I also circle small part of down lips to indicate ray of light to keep the sketch more realistic.

STEP 3
I also completed the top part of the lips with 2B and the end of her mouth. It's very necessary when creating the mouth part.

image

STEP 4
Starting to create the teeth with H.make sure your hands are very gentle at this point

image

STEP 5
I blend the teeth with a stained cotton board . By doing so you would get a more realisms result.

image

STEP 6
Then i close the bottom of the Lips with 4B.Here you can also see the result of blending the teeth.

image

STEP 7
Creating the cheeks with 2B.creating a series of circles together and leaving the center untouched and i blend it all together. The line of the wrinkle caused by the smile was achieved using 4B

image

STEP 8
I did the same thing applying 2B and blending it to create the top of the head layer...created a circle motion but left some part on the top left corner of the forehead indicating where the light is concentrating.

image

STEP 9
Created a shadow of the hair with 4B and blend it more than once.

image

STEP 10
I completed the chin with a 2B and a stained cotton board.. Also you could see some white traces on the right side. Always take note of contrast

image

STEP 11
Staring to create the left part of the hair following the flow of strands....i achieve this with the help of 8B

image

STEP 12
Did the same thing to the right part

image

STEP 13
Remember you don't want your image to look flat. So i use 2B to create the waves on the edge of the hair.

image

STEP 14
Finally, i retouched and glance through the whole work and see if their is need of correction.
And there we have it.
Its not " How far" but "How well"
