Does Pi know, when you will die?
Normal number and the incredible effect
The Number Pi, 3.14159265359... and so on, the ratio between circumference and diameter of a circle thingy. You probably know it from school. And whether you came in contact with that number since then or not, there could exist a mind blowing fact about the number's 'tail', so the digits behind the decimal point.
It is not yet proven, but there are strong signs, that Pi could be a so called normal number. That is, that every possible block of numbers occurs with the same possibility and distribution within the infinite tail of Pi's decimals. No matter if 123456789 or 000000 or 8958632956...any possible block with any possible length.
You can see a kind of beautiful representaion of normality in the following picture:
I found the idea for that somewhere on the internet and created it for myself with a #MATLAB script (that was not an easy thing by the way^^). The diagram shows the "flow" of the first 10.000 decimals of Pi. The lines are jumping from one digit to the next and as you can see, the lines all see to have the same density which is a sign for normality.
Though it is no prove at all because it is just for the first ten thousand decimals, which is like nothing. In spite of that it is on the wall of my dorm room, because it is simply beautiful! :-)
Now what's so special about that?
Assuming that Pi is such a normal number, then every information, that ever existed and will ever exist is hidden somewhere in the decimals of Pi. :-O
How come? Quite simple: Give every letter from the alphabet a number, so that any text would only be a long line of numbers...just like the decimals of Pi. Given the fact mentioned above, every book ever written in every language, every answer to every question, no matter if already posed or not, is somewhere decoded in the infinite stream of numbers.
Unbelievable, isn't it?
And what about the monkeys?
There is another more vivid picture of that, what I just explained. Imagine an infinite number of monkeys, each of them sitting in front of a typewriter...nice picture, heh?^^ Give these monkeys infinite time (and probably an infinite amount of bananas) and they would achieve the same as described above by simply randomly hitting the keyboards.
There would be a probability greater than zero, that they would produce every imaginable text. Your first love letter, your whole story of life, the cause and exact date of your DEATH!
So, steem on
Knowing that, you should never again have no idea what to write on steemit...simply have a look on Pi (or eat a piece of Pie, that will also do the trick, because 'e' may also be normal, no one knows) or go and watch monkeys at the zoo ;-)
If you think a probability of 0.00000000000000000018% is low then you don't know how probable is to pick a planet inhabited by any life form from a pool with all the planets in the Universe.
I think that a monkey could write a letter before we find an inhabited planet.
of couse i know π , i am greek!
Yeah, then you should :-D
