My Art Journey

in #art7 years ago (edited)

I grew up bearing the pain everytime my parents are bragging about my cousins for their artistic abilities infront of me and to other people. They even told me "Oh you're cousin can draw well! Look at this! Good for them they know how to draw unlike you!" Those sentences really stabbed my heart and it shattered into pieces . As if it was my fault that I knew nothing about art. At my young age, I was 7 at that time, I always asked why can't I draw? Why can't I do the thing that my parents could possibly be proud of me just like how proud they are of my cousins? When I was a kid I never felt that they are proud of me even though I made it to the honor students in our school. It felt like whatever I do is not enough for them. This experience made me hate art but that faded right away and I just think I know someday, I can proudly bring an artwork of mine to my parents my only problem is that I am afraid to try new things because I may not like the outcome.

One day came, my aunt bought me a coloring book. It was a thick coloring book about 70 pages. She also gave me coloring materials like color pencils and crayons.
From then, I started coloring. I was happy. I never thought it would be that fun. Thanks to my grandma she kept my coloring book and here let me show you some of the pages I colored.

But the pages were all done, that was the time I started drawing. Dragons, flowers, butterflies those were the things that I love to draw before. In fact, I found one of my drawings inserted on the pages of my coloring book.

I kept on practicing but time came that I had to focus on my studies so I minimized drawing and eventually stopped. One day, I found this new way of creating an artwork. It is made by phone using an application. I became so curious so I searched about it and ended up into a group that teaches that kind of artwork. That is how I started to make digital artworks. That particular group taught us how to make a Smudge Art which is the most basic. These are some of my smudge art that I was able to keep.

I enjoyed it even though others were saying it is just easy since we are just to smudge the whole reference but i don't think so. There are a lot of steps and factors to consider in doing it to maintain its details. While having my smudge art study, I also started to draw traditionally again. Then I was able to study 3D smudge also.

Sadly, I had to stop again so I can focus on my studies. (I am poor in time management haha) And last year 2017 I was able to go back again and started practicing 3D smudge art! These are just some my outputs arranged from the very first to the most recent one.

Now I am accepting commissioned digital artworks for a cheap price! I am now able to make money out of it and help my grandma with her heart maintenance and check up.

I also have have here some traditional artworks but I'm not really into it. The materials are costly haha!

I am not sharing this to brag but instead I want to inspire you all. Those who don't believe that they can do it must believe they can and start doing something at the bottom. This is not just about art but in all aspects in life. Go out of your comfort zone and discover your hidden talents. Don't mind if others don't believe you and are pulling you down. It's okay to be failed but what is not okay is if you let failure bring you down. Start and discover something more about the things you don't know you can do. Always remember that the best time to start was yesterday.

I would have never guessed that kind of struggle that you had before but seeing you now and your art is just inspiring.

You should concentrate on your digital art and aim to get it curied. Look at the works of @Jacinta.sevilla to see how she does it and I know you will be nominated for curation.

I'll look for full unlocked sketchbook link first haha I got my sb unintentionally uninstalled haha

Thank you so much sir! I appreciate each comments you have on my works. It motivates me. :)

Ok
Now you are developped super in Arts.

Well as a person blessed with indefinite lack of art inside me, I am so amused to see people excelling in the art of drawing, may it be traditional or digital, in your case you're good in both, so I must say job well done to you, and please don't keep grudges against your parents, those days are long passed, try to think of it like a motivational speech from them to you. After all, you got motivated from their critiques right? Enjoy life, it's too short to dwell on the past. Cheers! And full steem ahead!

@jamesanity06

Oh i forget to include that haha! I don't have any grudges nor hatred instead i made it as my inspiration to do better. :) thank you so much sir!
