A Thought - The Painting That Opened a Door

in #art7 years ago

This was one of the first paintings I painted on the Cintiq, towards the end of 2011. From a technical point of view, all kinds of things bother me about it, but that doesn't matter at this point.

In a way, "A Thought" reminds me of The Fool, the tarot card, though maybe not quite as hopeful yet. The timing was fitting, as The Fool marks the beginning of a journey, and, in a weird, bizarre way, so did this painting.

I sold a giclée of A Thought almost immediately. The buyer asked me what the painting meant for me. I was indeed a fool, and answered the question truthfully, honestly, not holding anything back. I don't think they were happy with my answer. (Read on below)

A Thought (2011), Sabina Nore

Some Painting Details

Not every step of the journey is a happy one.
Sometimes, life presents us with tests, pass or fail.

You pass and the journey goes on. Truly goes on.
A journey, a spiral. The river.

You fail, and you stay right where you are at.
A circle. A stale puddle.

People sometimes imagine punishment as a series of bizarre accidents, or something very conspicuous, but the choice of staying in place, figuratively speaking, and everything that comes with it, that's punishment enough.

So this painting, as colorful as it is, shows all kinds of things. It's not just a happy Thought...
Some things are hard.
Some things are meant to be hard.

if one asks, there is an answer, the truth is always the best, even when it´s not what one expects to hear. I like that. No fool in answering... but yes a fool in the Tarot card! where there are no boundaries! go for it!! yes!

Yes, if asked, I always answer honestly. (Once a fool, always a fool. :) )
Or I don't give an answer at all.

where there are no boundaries! go for it!! yes!
That I always do! :)
Thank you Romanie!

Anchoring to the past, thoughts, objects, places or people keeps you stranded. Letting go whenever it is necessary sets you free.

There is a big difference from your most recent paintings, it is true. But the fantasy veil, the "atmosphere" remains always distinctive :)

That's good to hear! :)

Thank you @ruth-girl!

It's beautiful, I hope I can get to paint like that one day

Hi Sabina, this is a beautiful scene, lots of symbolism! 😻

Thank you Boban!
None of it was painted with any symbolism in mind, at least not on any conscious level. One of the many beautiful things about art...

That's the beauty of art, everyone can see or feel differently ..😉

Wonderful painting! Еxcellent work on "Оne of the first paintings"!

in the event that one asks, there is an answer, the fact of the matter is dependably the best, notwithstanding when it's not what one hopes to hear. I like that. No trick in replying... in any case, yes a trick in the Tarot card! where there are no limits! put it all on the line!! indeed!

Fantastic, love your work!

Good to hear, and thank you for following!
Lovely wedding dress. :)

Thank you so much!

I loved the different colors you managed to put into the picture, without "polluting it".
Thats something hard to make

And amazing symbolism!

Yes, that's one wild palette! :)
Thanks for your feedback @rodrigozottis, and for following!

Thank you very much! Good to see some good artists on Steemit ^^

One could interpret it in many ways. Maybe your client already had a personal interpretation in mind.

Yes, it certainly can be.
Some people connect so deeply to a painting, have their own interpretation of it, their own meaning for it, and in a way, that combination (painting + their interpretation) becomes their very own experience. It's like a new creation.

fantastic!

Thanks!

Amazing artwork and so filigree details 👍

I love that you express the gritty truth. Some of the most powerful and beautiful works are borne of deep sorrows.

Great paintings! 👍👍 Especially for the first ones, marvellous!

And somehow they all got squeezed into one painting! Thanks :)

;) Each piece of details you give is amazing 👍

Very well done remember we have no harder critics then ourselves. Keep painting!

The critic mostly kicks in a bit later. It helps to let the painting sit for a bit, and forget about it. Then look again.

Vote back my friend
