Titan: A story about a boy and his dog.

in #art7 years ago

Not that long ago, there was a boy who lived with his family in the country.

This boy's upbringing made him a little different, and because of that he was a loner.  And the friends that he had were starting to grow up and have different interests and dreams than he had.  You see, this boy was intellectual and a very deep thinker... not many youth are or care.

When he wasn't at school he was at home, and often alone as his parents were out working.  But he wasn't completely alone, he had his dog Titan.  They would go for long walks in the forest and along the railroad tracks.  They spent hours upon hours at the pond; the boy would throw rocks into the pond and Titan would try and find them.  Titan was a great friend and an even better listener and shoulder to cry on.  The boy would tell his dog about his days and Titan would be the boy's quiet companion.

The days passed and turned into years and the boy was all grown up with a job that took him far away from home and for weeks at a time.  Titan was growing older, but was always happy as ever when his best friend came home.

Fast forward a few years and the boy was now married and had a child.  He no longer lived with his parents, but his parents kept Titan.  Weekly visits turned to monthly and then yearly, but Titan never held it against his friend.  Titan looked forward to when he got to go on those walks with his friend again like old times - nothing made him happier.

This was a story about my Dad and his dog Titan.  I hope you enjoyed it! :)

Titan passed away many years ago, so I painted his portrait for my Dad as a tribute to Titan's life and their friendship.
