Good morning all!
I'm back again with one large watercolor painting, my malachite dragon.
I started this for Smaugust, but wasn't able to finish it. Now it's finally done! And it took longer than I had planned...
However, I'm happy with the result and I hope you like it too!
I just love malachite, it's one of my favourite minerals, the color is so beautiful! <3
The original painting will be available for sale in my Etsy shop soon. I'll make a shop update later this week.
Wishing you all a magical & colorful day, sending you some smiles with this post (hopefully) :D
Be creative!
xxx Nadine

Thank you for your great support, I very much appreciate it! <3
Awesome artwork, @artbynadine! I like it a lot. Lovely choice of colours!
Thank you so much, and thanks also for stopping by again :)
Gorgeous, love the colours <3
Thank you very much!
Cool design, love the mix of bat/chameleon going on... :) keep up the awesome work!
Thank you very much! :)
This painting is just awesome! I love the colors you chose, it just made everything there vibrant and extra beautiful. It wouldn't have been any better, the long time it took you to make this did pay off!
When will you be done with the unicorn?
Thank you very much! The unicorn is now done already. I will post it on my blog soon, but I want to finish some other art first :)
Done with the unicorn already? Wow! Do post it soon (before you finish the other art, if possible)....
I can't believe this was with watercolors, it's really beautiful. I love the dragon, strange, original and on the one hand terrifying, you have a great imagination. Congratulations.
Good vibes for you.
Thanks a lot, I'm glad you like it! :)
The moment I saw at first, I thought of a fish lol!
Well, its not! Its a dragon, a beautiful dragon! A Malachite dragon!
Very beautiful indeed Nadine!
I love it!
That dinosaur can blow fire? I'm innocent lol!
Thank you! :)) I'm not sure about the fire, but who knows?! Some things are always secret... ;)
When it comes to dragon I could only think the blowing of fire from its mouth. But how on earth can this creature be alive if it contains fire in its body?
I've got no idea! But I think the fantasy world is not always logical... so it could be possible! ;)
Oh yes!
You have the point. Its fantasy like a Fairy Tale or Mythology of old, not of this world but from other dimension, full of majesty and power!
That's why I love Fairy Tales. Because there are so many possibilities to be creative :)
You got the point there!
We have to get out of the box to see what's more right?
If we're doing things over and over again and again and nothing good is happening, why not try something new, out of our old styles?
I look at the scaly bit of the dragon, and somehow it resembles a chameleon from the eyes and the green shades, I love the green fern you painted it's just too colourful, I don't know whether you sketched the fern in the drawing or not but the watercolors seems just so precise I love this, it's so beautiful
Thank you very much! I love chameleons, they are inspiring :) I didn't sketch the fern, that's watercolor only.
Wow watercolors only for the fern? That's so precise and amazing
Hey Nadine greetings :-)
Wonderful picture with awesome colors. Now you have one follower more. And you know our saying in germany: "Good things will take a while."
I also checked your instagramm and i like your other art too.
Im sending you some smiles and hugs back from the Ruhrgebiet ;-)

What a great dragon, Nadine. I love all those concentric designs that you painted on its body and the outer skin.
The variation of green on this picture also blend very nicely together, creating a great contrast against its red prey. Well done :D.
Congratulations on your curie vote ^_^.
Thank you! <3 And thanks also for stopping by again!
Such a cool chameleon!
:D Thanks!
@artbynadine I like malachite as well. The small red creature actually attract my attention because it is "Red". Is he the good friend of this dragon? Your dragon is not scary at all, it look friendly and cute. I like the combination of color in your painting,it beautiful. It really brighten my day.
Thank you very much, I'm glad that you like it! I think that tiny red whatever-it-is is his prey... ;)
Hello this is such a stunning art!!!i love the colors and the mix shapes you uesd to create the dragon it looks beautiful.
Thanks a lot!
:)
Absolutely stunning piece. I love the color and the whole vibe it gives. Although at first I thought that it was a fish.
:D Thank you!
Oh my @artbynadine! This is a very unique, well-picked colored art! What I have known is that dragons have a strong taste of colors that's why when I looked on this, I portrayed the attitude and character of this Malachite dragon as with the good.
If given by chance, how much will your artwork cost? Or how much are you willing to sell it? Great stuff!
Thank you so much! I think it is a good dragon, but maybe he's a little bit cheeky too ;)
This painting will be listed for sale on Etsy for 360 €uros. It is a large painting, 48 x 68 cm.

Wow, this is amazing! love the way you aplly the tones, i am following you by the way, cause' i want to see much more of this beautiful art! congrats on so good job!
Thank you very much!
Oh I know someone who will like your art. She does watercolor too but galaxies. 😁 Yours have a lot of detail. Good art really takes some time to do especially if it's detailed.
That's a lot of greens. How come it's really bright? When I do watercolor it always seems dull to me. Am not an expert or a fan of it so I dunno. Or maybe I should use poster color again. Hmmm. 🤔
Seeing posts like yours gives me back some of my lost inspiration. Keep on doing great art! 👍 Good luck on Etsy. 😊

Thank you very much! Maybe it depends on the paints you use. I use Schmincke Horadam watercolors, I like these the most because the colors are just great.
Yeah I guess so.

I love the design on the skin. All the swirls look really ancient like Celtic design and match the concept of a dragon. It's cool that its all painted in the same few colors as opposed to most people who would use the full palette of colors.
Thanks a lot, I'm glad that you like the colors. I wasn't sure about that first, but I tried to keep it "simple". ;)
That's pretty much my motto for life in general. Too many people make things so complicated when there is normally a simple solution. There is no point in getting too stressed or worried over a problem instead just find the starting point and where you want to finish and see what needs to happen to get there. A lot like any piece of art too really. What are starting from, what are you trying to paint and then all the steps in between. Simple.
Yes this is true! I think that those 'steps in between' just happen somehow when you trust in your skills and when you are inspired enough. There's no need to worry about all that.
No, for the most part they kind of fall into place once you have started and know where you are trying to get to. That's why people are always on about practice. Keep doing it until it becomes second nature.
That a beautiful painting, the colors, the design, ALL this incredible ..
I would like someday to try to paint with acurelas, post like this make me want to try it .. Thank you very much for showing us your art !! Greetings @artbynadine
Thank you very much, just give it a try ;)
howdy from Texas artbynadine! hey I really like Malachite the dragon, somehow he looks rather congenial and not evil like most dragons. My gosh the detail on his body, how long did it take you to complete him?
I love the colors as well and think this is a great piece, I think it will definitely sell!
Thank you so much! It took about 25 hours I guess. Way too long! ;)
well howdy there artbynadine! whoa 25 hours! well so you got hit by curie for what..approximately $25 so you got paid a dollar an hour..lol. that's probably more than alot of people make on steemit!
Well for us anyway it was worth it and once curie finds someone they keep coming back but you probably already know that.
I love your Malachite dragon, @artbynadine ! His design is amazing, and the way you colour is really beautiful <3 Really gorgeous piece, with beautiful detailing and my favourite part, the hyper attentive expression on the dragon's face ! :D Lovely post~
Thank you, I'm glad that you like it & thanks for your support! <3
Mal wieder wunderschön... der Blick ist herrlich :-)
Danke schön! :D
Ooo I like the Malachite design and colour on your dragon @artbynadine. And it camouflages really well with its background. Your lines are really precise, your circles are really round and your straight lines are really straight. You have such good control. If I paint or draw, the lines are usually shaky. What inspired you to draw the dragon? And I am liking your unicorn :) I like the colours of the sea and seaweed and the pattern at the bottom.
Thank you very much! I just wanted to paint something about malachite, no idea why it became a dragon :D
Hehe I guess when inspiration comes, there's no knowing why :)
Now you got me interested with malachite :D. I like stones like agate, howlite, moonstone, amber, amethyst, usually because of the stone's design and colour.
I like agate a lot and everything blue, green or turquoise :D Malachite is one of my faves, the patterns and color are just beautiful!
Me toooo! I usually get the blue ones but I like any colour that has different patterns on a single stone. I have not seen Malachite yet in the shops but you have gotten me interested for sure :) I just saw your picture profile, I love ice cream tooO!!! Lots and lots of it! Till my tongue freezes! :D
I also prefer stones with patterns. Jasper can be really beautiful too! The great thing is, that I can find agate and jasper here in the forests, it's like treasure hunting :D
This is just beautiful. The colour combination is just right. I love the overall picture. I say the time used up was time well spent. I would also like to see how the unicorn turns out. I am sure it would also be beautiful.
Thanks so much!
The experiment with malachite patterns as scales for your dragon suited it well. It looks amazing and no doubt if tried on digital media, the details would be enhanced further. I'm guessing you would attempt other gemstone colors for other animals in your future art?
Thank you! Yes, I've planned more gemstone creatures. I've already painted some agate unicorns. I'm not into digital art, I still prefer traditional art :)
Still an awesome effort even if it's not digital. Amethyst, Topaz, Ruby and Emerald, it's fun to imagine the possibilities with that skill of yours :D
Thank you! I should make a gemstone blog post one day... :D
