HE WHO AILS FROM ALES
“What ails thee?”
So asked that doctor, I went to see.
“They call me Quenton Guzzler, that’s so.”
“They call me that, where-ever I go.”
“I’ve been in your rooms for waiting,”
“For well over an hour, without expostulating.”
“Yes, I sat quietly, without any remonstrating,”
“As that clock ticked on and on,”
“Soon all my available time was gone.”
Quenton Guzzler looked at his physician,
With myopic eyes, to explain his position.
“Daily I do drink a gallon of ale,”
“But only the finest of Indian Pale,”
“It has those extra hops, you see?”
“Flavour most full, extenuatingly.”
“I don’t go for pints, quarts and the like.”
“For me, straight to a gallon, or go take a hike!”
“And, after a gallon of that brew so hoppy,”
“I must admit that I feel challenged, quite sloppy!”
“Doctor, do you think that there is something wrong with me?”
“Perhaps it would be better if I drink just tea!”
That doctor had to work hard for his loaf.
Never, in his days, had he seen such an oaf!
“You must carefully consider the sequence of events,”
“You’re ruining your health, like many other fat gents.”
“Beating up your body with such foolish excesses.”
“Your fat globules expanding to jelly-like messes,”
“So, if self-destruction is your goal, don’t you know?”
“You must, somewhere else, there, you should go!”
