A thousand beer bottle caps

in #art8 years ago

I came across this simple but exquisitely effective piece of public art, displayed on a tree and made of nails and beer bottle caps.

I love how as the bottle caps have aged, they appear like brass shimmery skin, with a few pops of colour and gold. Some of the caps are so rusted, they blend in with the bark. Beautiful and seamless.

You can find this amazing tree, glistening in the sunlight in a public park in Nimbin, Australia.

The tree seems healthy and alive, perhaps the nails only penetrate the thick bark.

I have no idea who made it, but it is there for all to enjoy.

I think it is marvellous and I hope you do too!

What a beautiful nature art installation! It's as if a large snake spiraled around the tree and molded to it. It's also always interesting to see peoples' reactions to art such as this - classifying the tree as natural and the bottlecaps as unnatural when in fact it's all come from the Earth and will all be recycled back down one day.

I've been loving all of your posts since day 1 - your recycled creations are beautiful and your journey to where you are today is inspiring.

You might be interested in selling your beautiful recycled creations on Peerhub.com (you can find more info about it here). It is a marketplace that is focused around Steem dollars and the Steemit community. We're holding a raffle this week with a pool of 150 SD if you post an item on the site. I will also be making a weekly post highlighting newly listed items in the marketplace that could potentially help your creations reach a wider audience :-)

Hi anwenbaumeister - that is the loveliest comment! Thank you! I thought it was a snake too. There is a definite tail. Peerhub looks great, glad you introduced me to it. I can see sooo much potential here for me and also I love buying other peoples creations to fill my home too.

Awesome! Let me know if you hop on it and I'd love to buy some of your creations to fill my home as well :-)

Unhappy tree ((
Look at this. I took off in the last year:

Wow @frol thanks for sharing! Nice saving!

Wow
A Way to recycle

Very creative art and a good way of recycling the caps too. Thanks for sharing.

Art does not have to sacrifice something. we might be able to feel the suffering of the tree , the tree does not give us the money but the trees give us oxygen , keep our trees

Hi Pandu - I really did wonder about the tree and the possible ring barking. If I was to replicate this effect in my back yard, I would not do it on a tree. But I love the effect of the bottle caps nailed together. I just have to find a suitable surface to do it on. I have mixed feeling about this art. I honestly love it. But yeah, I love trees too. Thanks for your comment. I appreciate it.

OK spirit with your work but hopefully there are other media besides the tree
