I think it is time this often overlooked magical little accessory has a resurgence. From simple little buttons to elaborate art pieces, brooches are inspirational encapsulations of design.
A brooch says something in ways that necklaces and earrings can not. It speaks of style, creating a visual delight. Brooches are fun, sweet and can even be a bit cheeky.
If you are going to a social gathering, a good brooch is a statement piece just asking to start up a conversation.
Wear A Brooch Day
I think brooches are an under rated accessory.
I recently overheard a customer is my shop saying to her friend, that once a week her work has 'wear a brooch day.' Apparently it had become quite competitive. I love this idea. It inspired me to gather all the brooches I have in my shop and consolidate them into a beautiful display.
Rock It Your Way
Wear it on a dress, shirt or jumper. Use a brooch to pin together a scarf or shawl or stick one on a hat/beanie. Pin to a collar, sleeve or jacket or even add one to a handbag. Basically anything can be enhanced with this pretty or quirky piece of jewellery. The options are endless.
Whether big or small brooches are extremely versatile. Don't get bogged down in fussy details of fashion styling. I think brooches are meant to be played around with. Pin it on and see how it goes. It doesn't have to take centre stage to work magic.
The brooches in my little photoshoot, feature work from the following Australian artisans that stock in my shop with odd vintage piece included; Anna Made, Bubba Belle, Gabrielle, Made by Lacey, Debbie's Heart, Meekz Contemporary Jewellery, Beveley, Eco Parents and Lesa.
If you ever happen to be in my neck of the woods, come in and visit me at my Recycled Gallery Shop.
Go on rock a brooch this week.
Until next time,
xx Isabella
hehe, i like brooches, you don't see them worn that much, only have this dead bird, which i like very much.
Hey @nin0000 that is a pretty darn unusual brooch! :)
It was made by a now elderly woman, who makes ceramics and sculptures.
Really neat
And i forgot to mention a ceramic brooch(i broke) in the form of a bowtie.:)
