Yesterday, I decided to pay my sister a visit and thank her for a wonderful gift of batik she designed for me. She is a graduate of Fine & Applied Arts and also a tailor. Going through her Industrial Training (IT) works, I was amazed at her skills both in thread painting and Tye & Dye design. I must say that from childhood, she had always has this belief of becoming a great Artist with interest in Textile design and I honestly see that belief coming to reality. Below are some of the designs of her work both at the design stage and the finished products.

In designing the Adire, she first started by sketching and shading the Adire design, with pencil.
This was done on paper first in order to prepare her for the next stage of Adire designing which is dyeing.
Fabric works (Drawing with Candlewax)
She designed on fabrics following the same procedure used in pencil works, but this time with candle wax to design 2 yards of fabric after which she dyed it with any colour of her choice. This is for 1 colour design.
For Two Colour Adire design
She waxed on fabric and dyed the first colour, then re-waxed it and dyed the final colour, which could be any colour of your choice. She used yellow and green.
For Figure Cutting, she made designs on shirts, gowns and polos with hot candle wax. The last picture, the Figure cutting Two colours, is the one I am seriously rocking.
