Hi Steemit, I’m an animator, Animation Lecturer and self-professed animation nerd.
My name is Charlotte and I’m Animation Course Leader at an International Design University in China. I specialise in stop motion and children’s content but being an animation lecturer I’ve been lucky enough to be surrounded by animation in all of its mediums from stop motion, 3D CGI, 2D both hand drawn traditional and digital.
Here are a few bits and bobs I’ve created over the years:
This is my graduate animation “The Little Red Plane”. This animation won the Royal Television Society Award in 2010 for Best Graduate Animation. All the sets you see were hand knitted and crocheted. The replaceable heads for the main character was built using a 3D printer.
These are two animated music videos I created for Chris Ballew of the band Presidents of The United States of America for his Children’s Band Casper Babypants:
Pretty Crabby
Stompy The Bear
Here is a link to my old company that my partner Mark and I started a few years back before I started teaching:
I’ll be reviewing animation past and present, digging out some hidden gems from the animation world. Going through a variety of animation processes with you and documenting personal projects from pre-production to completed piece.
Also, you can look through my past steemit posts to find more information on animation as a medium and introductions to other animators and past projects.
If you have any questions or if there is anything you would like me to focus on in future articles please leave a comment at the bottom of this post

Wow @charlotteblacker! I am not an animator but I have a special appreciation for the work you do because I am a crocheter! I have been crocheting for over 7 years and I love the work that you do using your crochet. I especially enjoyed "The Little Red Plan" and seeing the grassland and all of the planets crocheted, that was so Amazing! Congratulations on receiving recognition for that one! I will be showing my children your animations tonight! I can hear them say "mom that's just like when you crochet!" 😄 You have a supporter in me, I'll be following your work.
I love crocheting so much that I initiated #Needleworkmonday and I have several ladies that have joined me already. If you ever have free time I would love for you to join us if possible. You can read about it here. 😊 Resteemed!

Pretty Crabby was too good 😉
Only in small, small tastes.
Hehe Thank you :) @writewords
I'm an animator and an animation fan. I've been following you for a while. I love your work!
Thanks @Sethlinson, I'll follow you so I can keep updated with what you do too :)
I'm very interested in animation, although I rarely use this technique. Instantly followed you and looking forward to your future posts :-)
Thanks @shortcut Following you also :)
Great! Happy to connect :-)
I am mainly cgi oriented but classical animation is super cool and 3d printing is also in my portfolio, so I follow you and you just do what you do :-)
Thanks @evilhippie :) following you also
I think you dropped a stitch on frame 1034 ... just kidding.
This is amazing work. My kids made some stop motion in a course in high school. I've witnessed how patient and how much attention to detail it takes. Your work is very smooth.
Fantastic.
Hehe thanks @gikitiki I really appreciate it. They've started doing animation much more in schools now, it's exciting to think of all those future animators who'll be coming up in future years :)
Wow, thats realy realy cool, i love your work.
Thank you @asperger-kids, I appreciate the kind words :)
