A couple of years ago, I wanted to pick up drawing and started some random artwork. However, I stopped shortly after because I was really insecure with my art. And just today, I gave it another try again but this time, its the same art with colors. Again, I'm still embarrassed and insecure with it..but I hope what I learnt through this may encourage you.
When I finished this piece, I decided to call it the 'Grace in the Mess'. I don't know about you, but there were a lot of times where I felt that I was in a mess. Sometimes, I thought I WAS the mess. And I believe that I'm not alone. Maybe some of you felt that way before, those thoughts that just mess up your head, filling them with frustrations and just leaving you feeling like a wreck. However, at the same time, all these mess aren't necessarily bad. It actually makes us who we are. Just like the picture of scribbles making out a woman. This is where our mess starts to meet with grace.
For every mess we made or feel, it makes us into the person we are now. There is a reason behind it. God is able to turn every mess into a miracle, into something beautiful. Usually, the color red symbolizes danger or anger, which yes, it will lead to some mess sometimes, but when we learn to embrace and celebrate ourselves despite our flaws, red also turns to love and passion. The color gold also represents wisdom, which we will obtain in the process of our mess. Blue represents confidence and intelligence, maybe it is a result of what we went through before? And lastly, green is the color of nature. And what does it symbolizes? Growth. Out of the mess, we know that it is the perfect platform for us to grow, and mature.
I know this art may seem very amateurish or inconsistent. But I hope we all, even myself, can be reminded by this literally messy art, that no matter how big our mess is, it will never be able to compare the beauty that God will work in us THROUGH our mess.
