Located south of Amarillo, Texas, Palo Duro Canyon has been one of my favorite painting spots down through the years.

Upvoting
It seems that many Steemsters are struggling with upvoting. Including me.
Some of my friends on Steemit have posted articles about it recently: @exyle @merej99 @steemboys to name a few.
I never thought much about upvoting until HF19, the recent hardfork that changed the rules about it. But I'm thinking about it now, especially since I notice that my voting power is 78.19 and going down each day. If that were to continue, I'd be at zero eventually and have no voting power left at all. Since that's not acceptable, something must be done to recharge it to 100% every 24 hours.
Since I don't know what else to do at this point, I'm going to try upvoting at 1% for awhile and just keep supporting the posts I like, and see if my VP recharges. If that works, I'll go to 2%, then 3%, and so on, until I find my "sweet spot."
And so to those I normally support on Steemit, please do not be offended by a 1% upvote. 😇
Have a superlatively stunning day today and every day!

It's a pretty spot... camped there once, back when I lived in Texas.
Yeah, the upvoting thing takes a little dialing in... when HF19 hit, I'd read some about the updates, and I reset my "power" to 25% upvotes which would (technically speaking) be the same as before the change. I do it a little more individually now, usually between 5 and 25% depending on how much I like a post, and how much I feel it adds value. Something truly outstanding might get a 50% vote. On comments from 1% on your basic "I can tell you DID at least READ my post" response to 10-15% on thorough and well thought out comments.
So far, my voting power has remained solidly in the 88-96% range based on my typical day of creating 2-3 original new posts, replying to comments and curating maybe 30-50 posts.
It's a little more work than it used to be... on the other hand, it feels like I get more say in "sorting" the wheat from the chaff than before.
But that's just me!
I'm working on developing my own approach to handling upvoting so it doesn't take a lot of time and effort (which in my case is better spent in my studio!). At the same time, Steemit is very important to me as a way to get my images out into the world, so I want to be a responsible Steemster. It's good to get your feedback @denmarkguy so thanks for sharing your own approach.
Would love to be there in the cooler months like autumn. Haven't been there since I was a kid endurance riding on my first horse a sorrel on white paint mare.
As for the upvotes I'll be out here learning more about Steemit by reading posts, and comments. This community really reminds me of the FidoNet BBS's . Take care over there.
@roadscribe Autumn in Palo Duro Canyon would be so beautiful with the trees turning color.
The way you made the focal point have more saturated colors works really well.
Thank you @siloe 😀
but you still have my 100% power :)
tnx for sharing
thanks @mahdiyar I'm not certain about this, but I think you won't have to worry about it until you are able to use the slider to set your voting percentage. In other words, if you don't have a slider, you can only upvote 100% but you can, of course, control the number of times you upvote.
I know what you mean. I am currently at 3% voting and its sliding altough between 80 - 100% votingpower, depending on the activity that day.
Have a nice day, Lee aka @chessmonster
So 3% works quite well for you then, @tabea ? Cool! This thing is so complicated and there's a lot of discussion about it, so I guess we'll see what works. Thanks for commenting!
Yes, and I check steemstats.com from time to time - to see, what is happeing to my power. Right today I have done to much and now I am on 80% down.
Yes... We are also experiencing similar problem... Powering up is taking time. Wonder why
It takes time to recharge your voting power to 100% so if you upvote too much, it won't get there. That's why it's necessary to only upvote at a certain rate each day so you can reach 100% each cycle. I think it's different for each of us so you need to find out what works for you. And that's why I'm starting at 1% to see if my VP recharges overnight. I hope that makes sense.
Ok sir ☺️ do let us know the result
Results so far: at 1%, my VP recharged to 100% overnight. Now trying 2% to see what happens. Again, I'm upvoting as much as I want, with no holding back.
Ok sir ☺️ do update us
The painting looks lovely and perfect the way it is @chessmonster but I'm not sure I could ever be comfortable with this style. I am never happy and always looking to add a detail here or there so it would be a nightmare for me to walk away and leave it 'unfinished'. :)
As for the upvoting, I am not really sure how things work in that regard myself and I don't seem to have one of these 'sliders' that everyone keeps mentioning so have no way to control my voting percentage. I just upvote evryone who comments and every post I like. :) My vote isn't worth much I'm afraid.:(
I came across this post by @beanz by way of @dreemits blog. Not sure if it is any help to you in finding that sweet spot or perhaps this is the post where you got the reference. :)

Hope you are having an excellent day yourself!
There's a book, "Hawthorne On Painting," by Charles W. Hawthorne. My favorite art book is "The Art Spirit" by Robert Henri. Hawthorne's book is my #2 favorite. It's a thin paperback and not very expensive. (Both of these books can be purchased for around $20!) I recommend them highly for anyone who tries to "finish" their art, which is a curse: no artwork is ever finished - they only stop in good places! ha ha...I think I got that from Hawthorne! Maybe these books will be of value to you.
And yes I read the @beanz post but didn't devise a plan from it so I'm using my own. So I'll see what happens with it. I believe you'll get your slider after you've been on Steemit for awhile, although I don't know how that works exactly.
I did see somewhere that you get a slider when your account balance reaches $500 so hopefully it won't be too long.:)
I'm going to try to enter this weeks artstyleart contest and do a painting for that so we'll see how it turns out. I actually got back into drawing because I started oil painting and it wasn't working out too well so decided to go back to the drawing to get my confidence back first before doing another painting. It's probably time I branched out a bit now! :)
Thanks for the book recommendations. I will have a look at them.
Enjoy the rest of your day @chessmonster!
I faced the same problems. It looks like the system is only recovering the steempower with around 15-20% a day. It took me around a week to recover to the full 100%.
Wow! A whole week? Sheesh. I'm glad I didn't go down too far, then, if it takes that long. I checked just now: I'm at 87% so maybe my evil plan is working! LOL
You should post a picture of you playing the banjo. :)
I've been trying to figure out how to post a recording of mine but can't figure out how to do it!
Excellent work. I know what you mean about voting power. Mine was 9% a few days ago lol. still trying to recover and am at 38%.
We'll get this figured out, one way or the other. After all, Steemit is a work in progress. Thanks @franklynx
Reminds me of some dunes a couple hours away from my place. Makes sense to reduce the upvote power, I expect you will find a balance between 2% and 3% (2.5% specifically), provided you upvote a the same rate as prior to HF19. Cheers
That's interesting...2.5% Maybe that's my sweet spot then. I guess I'll find out. Thanks for commenting! @moneybags 😎
I am not offended by 1%, you were always very generous to your audience here on steemit. i was thinking about this topic today as well.
Yes indeed! I read your post @steemboys and liked it very much.
