My Father's Art: the Nymph

in #art8 years ago

Hi there. I am going to show you a sculpture made by my father.

My father is an amateur sculptor/painter, who started these activities very late in life, after retirement. Today he's almost 84. We did not have an easy relationship throughout our lives: he was very focused on his career and eventually became a very senior civil servant. When I was young, I felt very different from him, so...things were complicated.

His sculptures and paintings mean a lot to me because they helped me discovered a hidden dimension of him. In a way, they helped us relate better to each other.

Here is the Nymph...

I really like this it. Probably, the details I like most are the shoulders

and the left foot, which you can see below.

I hope you like it. I am not sure to what extent my appreciation is related to the emotional value which this sculpture has for me, rather than objective beauty and quality...

Art is about emotions after all, so this is art in my eyes.

Bella, Clà. Non solo la scultura (che è bella). Ma ...bella che l'hai pubblicata...
Bravo!

Sembra che lei ha fatto una doccia di sangue e ancora non'è asciutta! Bella!!! Complimenti a tuo papa e anche a te per il post! (;
