As an adult, I have had many folks tell me that they could never be as creative as I am. This breaks my heart. My creative abilities did not appear overnight. Yes, I was always a bit clever, but it was with this clever that I found the way to journey into the realm of creative.
Steem Work Makes The Dreem Work
The point is that you have to put effort into your Steemit account. Not only should Steemians be posting, but you should be engaging others. Even if you cannot vote on everything, you should be reading and commenting. Learning to be a good citizen is part of what this community is all about.
The Sound Of Paper -- Starting From Scratch
By Julia Cameron
Being @clevercreator is a journey that I will never stop taking. A large part of this journey is helping others to develop their own creative talents and find the resources that will help this take their own creative journeys. Are you going to put in the time to be successful on Steemit?
Who, Me?
I enjoy Julia’s essays that come before the exercises. She is a college professor and writer – therefore, most of the essays will flow nicely into the concept of the exercise. In Who, Me?, Julia is reminiscing about her ideas (during childhood) of what it means to be a successful adult.
Today’s exercise is listing the 25 things that represent your idea of a successful adult. No one will have the same answers, but the conversation should end up focusing on are they realistic or a fantasy that was created by the media we consumed as children.
- $50,000 in savings
- Home owner
- Land owner
- Business owner
- $500,000 in retirement fund (before 50 years old)
- Great kids
- Great dog
- Ability to purchase a new car every 3 to 5 years
- Ability to take 2 to 3 months away from steady work
- Ability to travel regularly
- Community service
- Philanthropic service
- Ability to commission art work
- Belonging to several business and civic organizations that contribute to my professional and personal growth
- Being a great writer
- Being a leader
- Being a mentor
- Owning a large private library
- Taking proper care of mind, body, and spirit
- Owning a bed that I want to crawl into
- Hiring a maid service
- Hiring a personal assistant
- Hiring employees
- Having fun on my own terms
- Getting to be me
At several points in my journey, I have already accomplished these (except the retirement fund), but there were set backs to be had. Being an adult means seeing what you have now and enjoying the now. The important part of any journey is the lessons that you learn along the way.
I look forward to seeing your posts about the exercise and what you gained from it. Have you accomplished any of the items on your list? Please put your link in the comments below.
If you are in need of graphics @thepinkbyhamman has amazing graphic design skills and would love to design your graphics. She can give you a Steem quote, if you send her a comment in one of her amazing posts.
My Current Give Back Programs
10% of the earnings from this post are set aside to fund domestic abuse projects that are designed and maintained by @clevercreator – I am currently working towards building a long-term assistance program.
10% of this post will be given back to the SteemIt Community through the amazing folks I find while doing my curation rounds.
As my earnings grow, these percentages will go up as well.
Every post that exceeds $100, and then multiples of 100 ($200, $300, $400, etc.), I will send out a book (used books that need good homes), WITH a handwritten note signed by yours truly, @clevercreator – But wait there are rules…
• Your comment must be the most voted
• Include in your comment what you would like to focus on in the letter (maybe something to encourage you or an idea that you need help with)
• For every multiple of $100 this post earns, that many folks can will be able to win…so if the post earns $311.13, then there will be 3 wonderful folks that will see this book and letter come to them
• You address must be deliverable by standard mail – I am sorry, at this time, I cannot afford a courier
• Yes, you can live outside the United States and win
• You must have an active SteemIt account at the time the post pays out
• Of course, the most important rule – have fun and get the discussion going
• If you will pay too much in taxes, outside the US, tell me, and I will send you a small e-gift card from Amazon ( @renzoarg thank you)
