I came a cross this clip today and couldn't stop watching.
Kim has 20 personalities - most of them are highly talented painters
They all have completely different styles, as you will see in the clip.
She has learned to cope with her condition, and I love how she says at the very end, that she wouldn't want to get healed, because she "would lose too many artists".
I've always had a fascination for different personalities, but when they all appear in the same person... that raises soooo many questions! Especially if/after they get healed.
What if one of the personalities commits a crime?
Kim, the artist in the clip, reminds me of one of the characters in the novel "The girls he adored" - a book I will remember forever.
In the book, one of the main character's several personalities is a serial killer.
Each of the other ones has a "job":
- One is the "charmer" who seduces the victims.
- One is a fighter, who's stronger than all the others, for when he gets into trouble.
- One is the "manager", who decides when all the personalities take their turn.
And somewhere hidden is also the 5 year old boy, who was abused and created all these personalities for protection and as a coping mechanism in the first place.
The book raises a philosophical question:
If the main character gets healed, and all the personalities disappear, and the only one who's left is the original hurt boy (while the man is now in his thirties) - should he be sentenced for his crimes?
Were they actually his crimes? Did he really do them? Was he even present?
And how can one really be sure that the other personalities, who have been healed away - won't ever come back?
What if the "manager" personality just pretends the whole person is healed?
Ooh, what a rabbit hole...
What's your take on this?
oh i was just about to sleep after 2 hours writing my post then yours came up...really great..really got my attention.....i would explore....ohhhh remember our detox / retox convo...🍄😁😁😙
Oh, so wish I were still in Asia... :(
Tox, detox, retox, ha ha!
I watched this clip this morning as well- so interesting. To answer your question about the killer- I would say yes, he should be tried for the crimes but most likely would get of on an insanity plea and sent to a home. Because even though it may have not been the current personality who committed the crimes, it was the physical body and the physical body should be help accountable. It is not the victims fault that the person has multiple personalities.
But the body just carries out instructions of the mind... So who's mind was in charge at the time? ;)
Plus all our cells change ever 7 or so years, so the body isn't even the same after a while...
touche.
Great Post! I love your artwork
