I have this weird hobby of looking for and collecting less known and weird pieces of software. I also do digital-visual art, so most of those programs are from that category.
I am sharing here 5 less known programs I like. It is also my first post here, so fingers crossed.
So, have a look, be creative (post your art!), and write about programs that you like.
All of programs presented here are free.
1. SmoothTeddy | Windows
It is a little simple program for creating 3D models by drawing shapes. It is mostly directed towards younger artists, but simplicity of this approach could in my opinion be easily used in more professional digital tools.
2. Verve Painter | Windows
Verve Painter is one of those digital painting editors that try to simulate natural media. It is unique in it's aproach though, it simulates a lot of factors like paint drying or its thickness for example. Sometimes it feels like painting with pudding. It is amazing.
3. Foto Sketcher | Windows, Mac
A set of image filters that can turn your photo into natural looking painting or drawing. It has a lot of tools and settings to tweak. I think it could be suitable for hobbyists and more advanced users.
4. SculptGL | Online
You've probably heard about Zbrush, Modo or Sculptris. Now you can also sculpt right from your browser. It is not as advanced as those programs, but it is in active development and it should be enough for first steps in 3D sculpting.
5. Drawpile | Windows, Mac, Linux
You can paint with your friends online in real-time, with all those brushes an layers. Imagine the possibilities!
I hope that you like it.
Take care, @czerw
