Can Computerized 3D Renderings Be Considered Art?

This is a 3D illustration I made some time ago. The inspiration of this piece was actually the ever ending question; " What is art" ? I'm not gonna pull the old "dictionary definition" on you, of what art is. The reason being I don't think it can really be defined, and if it is defined it can only be defined subjectively.

Some say things made in 3D can not be considered art . I think 3D work can definitely be art. Art I believe is something which is made that can be appreciated either for its beauty or the feelings it evokes. Perhaps 3D work can not be appreciated by some because they don't understand the labor and skill that goes into the work.

I think the definition of art is ever expanding and as an artist it is your duty to push the boundaries and to help redefine. Therefore we should not be scared of exploring art through the technological advances which are offered, instead we should embrace them. What do you think about new technology and it's role in modern art, where does the boundary lie of when art is too computerized or where it has lost its root to what art really is ?

In my opinion, if it's created with lots of work and effort it should be considered art, if it's expressing something it should be considered art, and especially if more work was done from scratch it is most definitely considered art. Hey, but these are all my humble opinion. I'm teaching myself 3D art, for it didn't exist when I was in school (unlike my son that has taken digital art, web design and 3D art all while in high school!), most of everything I do is through effort and trial and error. I usually don't like 'kits' (most things premade), without edit the to me isn't too much art, LOL, unless someone can twist it into a masterpiece. It depends.

That's the thing everyone has their own opinion what art is. I agree with your point of view ! Which 3D program are your learning to use at the moment ?

Frankly, any I can get my hands on and do on a tablet. I'm unable to sit for long periods of time, hence why most of my work I do in my iPad Pro.

Thats cool, what is great these days is that you don't need a degree to do stuff, you just need access to Internet and you can learn whatever you want !

Well I have the patience to learn. I also love other's work and take constructive criticism and any helpful pointers. So feel free to step in anytime.

Looking forward to see your work :)

Depends. Can you hang it on a wall? :) j/k

Haha of course, I can print it out on canvas and hang it right next to your OMG graph analysis :) Both can be considered art !

Haha funny, I wish the charts were considered art but thanks for mentioning that!
