The Last Jedi - Luke Skywalker

I saw the new Star Wars movie, episode VII - the last Jedi, and even though I got out of the theater with mixed feelins, I thought the movie was good and fun. The new owner of the series, Disney, is known by its fun movies, so it's not a surprise this was somewhat the tone of the movie. I don't mean there wasn't grim themes in the movie, it's just that they weren't as well performed as the funny and action moments were. The "dark side" present in Star was series didn't seem to have been well presented in this and in the previous movie, something that capped the villains if this episode of the series, possibly putting the movie crew in a bad position for the next epsidode.
Besides that, it was fun to see Luke and Leia again, with the performance of both Mark Hamil and the late Carrie Fisher being top notch! Let's hope the next movie fixes the untied strings of the current one so their performances weren't done for nothing.

I made a drawing of Luke from the Last Jedi, a fun character, but that didn't seem to be a well thought follow up of the character we saw in the original trilogy. To tell you the truth, I would imagine Luke would have become more wise, but in this movie he is a shadow of the Jedi we never were able to see him become. His golden days as Jedi are probably in the between period of two trilogies, and we miht never see how they were.

He's afraid of something we only know in the end. He is bitter, and don't seem to be interested in the affairs of his friends. He has put a bad idea in his mind and hold it shut almost until the end, and he wasn't even eager to train Rey, which had even less trainin as a Jedi as he had under Yoda. I know this might sound as knitpicking, but this certainly wasn't the kind of Luke I expected after seeing the original trilogy when I was 12, and it seems the actor, Mark Hamil, wasn't exactly 100% OK with what he read, as we can see by his interviews during the launch of episode VII.

This movie wasn't very good at presenting the force to us. I know this is the eighth movie to have the force in it, but despite explaining everything as "midclorians" (aaaghh!) the previous movies were more subtle about the force, either by choice of by technical limitation. When used in fights, the force was a super power, but outside of this situation, the force was a mystic element, that enchanted as in subtle ways. They almost did that with the connections between Kylo Ren and Leia, and threw it all away with the same thing with Rey and Ren in a not so subtle way. When Luke explains the force to Rey, it starts subtle, and then it becomes just a huge "Rey knows everything in seconds" thing, again throwing subtlety out the window.

There were solid moments in the movie, but sadly they weren't the ones with the Jedi and the Sith in it. The other character, specially Fin, had some good well played moments, that truly made me anxious and affraid they might not make it. Even the Villain in Fin's arch was better than the villain in the Jedi's Arch. I would right more about the villains in this movie, but guess it needs a post of it's own, as I would like to explain my thoughts on how this movie spoiled a possible awesome villainous Kylo Ren.

I guess that's it for today. I might write more about this movie, as there are somethings I think are interesting to talk about. I made this drawing in ink and edited it in Gimp. Let's see what I will draw next : )
See you next time!

Yeah, there were some complains in this movie to me, but still this movie was good. I want to say a lot of things! Well, it would be a great idea to write my opinion on Steemit? haha After seeing this movie, I saw your drawing again and it's so great! I feel his "anxious" from your drawing. :P

:D I liked this movie two : ) It's just that I have read and heard people saying this movie was "the best start wars ever made", and I don't think so. It is a good star wars, but the best is still episode V :D
I want to hear your opinion of the movie :) see ya!
