in #art7 years ago (edited)

First and for most, I would like to greet everyone a pleasant day!

Mostly thinks that Robots are for boys only! Well, not for me guys...

Because today, I am going to show to you how to draw Optimus Prime.

As you can see the picture above, you will think it is difficult to do, but when you get the right technique, you will be able to do it. It was quite challenging for me though and it will take a lot of patience to do this, because all the details that needs to be done in this drawing. That is why I really tried my best to do this right.

To start with here are the materials used in this drawing..

Materials

  • Pencil

  • Black Pen

  • Red pen

  • Colored Pencils

  • An eraser

  • Sketch Pad

Okey, since we completed the materials above let's begin the step by step process.

Work in Progress (WIP)

First thing we will do is sketching...
The Face
PhotoGrid_1521466666723.jpg

in here I am showing to you the initial feature of its face

The first step is to do the two lines on both sides. It is a free hand, I did not use a ruler, that's why it is not so straight. But it is ok, it is not final yet, I will fix it later. Then the curvy part on top of its head, but if you will notice there is a portion that has a small hump on it. Continue doing the forehead, it is just the same on both sides, so it is just easy to do and most of the parts you will see has a sides even the eyebrows, eyes, nose and mouth.

The whole feature

In here, I fixed already the lines and some of the areas

Just take a look at the photo thoroughly and I added some layers on both sides of the face, and I drew also a stair like on the face.

Ok go on..try to do it also on your pads...

Next is..

The Shoulder
PhotoGrid_1521469699327.jpg

Notice that the right shoulder is longer than the left, there is an explanation to that, so just standby guys...

See that the right shoulder is higher that the left...
This is just a trial and error, I only anticipated the distance on both sides. You can change it if you want to get its propotion

See this next photos...
PhotoGrid_1521472434746.jpg
can you see the marks of sketch on the shoulder? that was the one I did on the previous photo. I changed it and moved it a little bit closer to the head because for me it is a little faraway.

PhotoGrid_1521472997625.jpg
I already did the chest, and that would be the side door and the glass on both sides. Again the right side is longer. It is because it is not on a straight position. Notice its head and neck, it is not aligned. The face is looking straight forward, but the body is a little bit sideward. And that explains everything.

Then I continued doing the left and right shoulder with a weapon attached into it. Remember it is alright not to be in perfect lines or rounds.

Are you finish with the head?
Then continue doing this also...

We are getting lower now....
CollageMaker_20180320_002224252.jpg
Draw first the diagonal shape in between, then continue on the lower part to make the connections on both sides Look closely then follow the lines that I made.

In here also, I already did the upper part of the right arm. You will notice that it is cut, well it is beacuse I ran out of space. And to make sure that my drawing will still fit into the pad I still continued to draw as if it is part of the design.

Almost done..
PhotoGrid_1521478354193.jpg

The upper left part of the arm, also done.

Below are the photos for you to see to complete the sketch
PhotoGrid_1521479206954.jpg
Just copy all the additional lines that I created and you will do just fine.

PhotoGrid_1521479370767.jpg
Make sure you do not to miss every single detail guys.

PhotoGrid_1521479507658.jpg
You must have a keen of sight...like an eagle. hahaha..

Make sure that all the line are in the right position to get the proportion of its body. Just take time, take a look a closely on your work and if you are already satisfied with the outcome then you are done sketching. And this will end our sketching part. Don't you worry, there is still time for you to change or fix some parts while tracing.

Well, If you are done, we are about to do the tracings. This is important also because it will enhance and emphasize your drawings.

Do the tracing

Tracing is fun, quite easy and fast when it comes to this part.

Do the head first
PhotoGrid_1521496100184.jpg
Those that are shaded in thick black, do the same on your work also.

This photos will show the full details of tracings on the chest part.

Now doing the left and right arms
Just follow the the sketches...

PhotoGrid_1521508165717.jpg

If you want to erase or change some detail, you may do so beacuse you cannot change it anymore after you trace it.

Done half part of the body
PhotoGrid_1521508914293.jpg

And do not forget to erase all the sketch marks before you color.
PhotoGrid_1521509680098.jpg

And you are done...
PhotoGrid_1521509927229.jpg
I suggest that you use a 1.0 pen so that you will not repeat or double the tracing anymore

good job guys...you are doing great...

Now..

Let us do the Colorings..

I colored first the inner parts with black
CollageMaker_20180320_100315386.jpg
I used a 1.0 pen in here because I want it darker.

I used dark blue to color the head.
PhotoGrid_1521513161080.jpg

I also used yellow and topped it with orange color on some parts, and that is the outcome
PhotoGrid_1521513224262.jpg
you can press it a little bit harder when you color so that it will be more darker and colorful

You can also do the colorings of all gray parts that you like, just like I did in this photos
PhotoGrid_1521513385621.jpg

Still coloring gray
PhotoGrid_1521515650177.jpg
I shaded some parts darker as if it is a reflection of a shadow

Started to color some parts with red
Instead of using colored pencil, I used titus red pen.
PhotoGrid_1521518210900.jpg
See the outcome, so very red. Make sure to shade every part of it becuase if you will leave some space, it will be visible to see.

Still looking some parts to color it in red
PhotoGrid_1521520646743.jpg

Hmmmm....I think this will look good if I will color it red also on the first image.

On the second photo I also started to color some part with blue
CollageMaker_20180320_124204763.jpg
Red and blue is a perfect combination

Here is the detail after I colored it with red and blue
PhotoGrid_1521521518584.jpg
added some colors to some parts like the yellow ones

So here it is guys..
PhotoGrid_1521521744254.jpg
but wait there some part that I forgot yo color..can you spot where it is? Look below on the knee part.

And here it is..
Complete and done!
PhotoGrid_1521522556757.jpg
with a red logo of The Transformers on it.

And that's all folks...

I hope you learned something from me and at the same time you had fun too as much as I did...

thank you all and

God Bless
