Memories of yesterday can be captured in a painting ....
Pomegranates from that special tree, A Five Roses tea tin from our family table and a beautiful tapestry given by a friend.
Still life compositions are so lovely to paint. Working with various compositions set up on the table in front of me, one can capture the various textures as well as light and shadow variations.
The following painting I have painted in acrylic on a stretched canvas. Size 46 x 36 cm.
As the Five Roses tin was a bit faded and worn by being well used and passed down by the family, I edited the wording to look a bit better.
Pomegranates are fun to capture in a painting, especially when they are also cut open to reveal the wonderful display of seeds. The season for picking Pomegranates is between the months of January and February in South Africa.
Pomegranate shrubs and trees are hardy and easy to grow.
The shrub can be trained into a 15 to 20 foot tree. They add a stunning splash of color with their striking red flowers to any garden.
When I paint tapestries or fabric with a design I always start with a base colour first and then paint the pattern on layer by layer.
