Beeline Birds Advertising Illustration

Look! My chicks are flying! It was an order from Lowe Adventa agency to draw three chicks flying on SIM-cards for one of the biggest Russian mobile operators Beeline. Not only Russian, by the way. I've been in Cambodia and they have it there too.

Brief

Agency task was polished and my style was approved with the client. They had this fun simple sketch with idea showing other operators as air serfers. Advertising was about cheap call to concurrent networks.

I have to say I love Beeline for it's style. These stripes and colors are so attractive for me. It's crazy but almost 15 years ago I've chosen this operator because of this style! And when they've asked me to draw I was really happy.

Sketches

First sketch I was trying to draw more like I wanted it to be. More childish, cute and fun in my oppinion. Maybe more cartoonish and simple...

But they've given me strict instructions why and how I should try again so I've ended up with this awesome sketch.

Branding and Coloring

They've asked me to color it but I should keep the branding. More yellow, some stripes and few other things. Their brandbook is fat, full of pages with different instructions and cases on how to use their colors, fonts, logo and a lot of samples on how not to spoil their design.

I've colored them this way. But showed to my friend and biggest inspiration Gordei with whom we had been living together in one Thai house on Ko Chang that time.

He suggested me some dynamic shape changes and more yellow which I like now but chould not adapt that time somehow :)

Then an agency comments came back to me and I had to make it even less cartoonish and more realistic keeping it in my style ofcourse.

Final

There was few more comments with unnecessary things which I don't want to show here but this was the final version printed and flooded all the Russian road billboards. 6 to 3 meters huge size.
