Good day dear Hive friends, first of all I hope that you are all well and that you had one that is full of positive ones! Today, after a little longer time, I would like to introduce a plant a little closer and hope you can expand your knowledge a little.
Here you can see the Cavendish Banana which is also known under the scientific name Musa acuminata and originally comes from more tropical areas in the Asian region and it is assumed that it was already cultivated a few thousand years ago in Thailand or Malaysia. For the first time, the banana came to Africa through Arab traders and in the 15th and 16th century, it was also increasingly spread by Portuguese natives in Europe as well as America and the international trade of this fruit expanded in the 19th century and nowadays there are about 50 to 100 different varieties. Typical for bananas is the growth which is somewhat reminiscent of a small tree and large leaves form which often got red or purple traces on the leaves and it prefers warm as well as humid locations. Bananas are pollinated mainly by bats or birds and only in the wild-growing varieties the fertilization works by pollen and the plant is not winter or frost-hard and urgently needs to be indoors and it is generally considered relatively easy to care for and during the hot days you have to water regularly, but you should also pay attention to waterlogging! Another property is that it is able to clean pollutants from the air and therefore it is particularly suitable as a houseplant and contributes a large part to good air quality.
In Hindu mythology, the banana is often considered the fruit of the gods and is also often referred to as a symbol of growth or fertility and often it has also been considered a symbol of luxury or abundance, but can also be seen as a symbol of energy as well as vitality. Bananas have also achieved a high status in art and many artists have chosen the fruit or plant as a motif and it was also quickly found out how important bananas are from a medical point of view. Bananas contain many active ingredients that can have an anti-inflammatory effect on the body and could help against viruses or bacteria and it contain many vitamins or nutrients and can have a great effect as a prevention of diseases and help to improve the immune system. Bananas contain over 60-70 different ingredients and can also have a positive effect on blood sugar levels and it has also been found that it can help to heal wounds faster and it can also help to have an effect on the production of hormones and it can help with the production of the happiness hormone serotonin. As always, in case of diseases, you should always ask your trusted doctor or pharmacist about the right medicine and application as well as possible side effects to avoid complications!
Thank you very much for stopping by and I hope you could learn something new about nature! I captured these pictures with my Camera Sony Alpha 6000 plus 55-210 mm lens!

Incredible, it had never occurred to me to investigate the history of the banana tree. In Cuba we call the banana fruit "plátano", it is actually quite abundant, I think your post explains it. At home we use the leaves of the tree for roasts of meat, I don't know if this is also the style in other places, the flavor that this plant brings to the barbecue is wonderful. Thank you for sharing with us.
Great to have learned something new about your culture :) That was new to me and I will also try the whole thing, I know a similar technique with the leaves of wine. Thanks for the recipe :)
I didn't see any banana tree yet in reality and it will be looking great to see bananas hanging in bunches.
