Museum of Contemporary Art - Korakrit Arunanondchai

Me and @escapist spend last Friday being all fancy and cultural in Helsinki's Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma, and we were really pleasantly surprised about the exhibitions in there. We started from the top floor with an exhibition of Korakrit Arunanondchai, an artist from Bangkok. He does these insane, huge, sculptures from different materials and the whole room is just very eery with all the changing lights and sound effects.

It was really hard to take pictures because there was just so much to see, so I mostly photographed my favourite parts, the odd globs of blown glass, lit from within.

Metal, wood, wires, glass, lights, water, car parts, plastic, jeans, prosthetics, insects, fur, sea shells, paint, canvas... And somehow, it all came together beautifully.

Ps. @escapist left me alone in Hellsinki earlier today so I've had all evening for myself and my sassier photography, more of that soon ;)

Really amazing

Just WOW!

Speechless. The amount of attention to detail and creativity going on here is mind blowing!

Wow wonderful piece of Art,thank you soo much for sharing your experience of exhibition🖼🖼🌝

Looks like you were on an alien planet. Why is it so dark though?

You can ask the artist about that, I wanted to keep the photos dark because it was dark in there in real life.

It's Really Niceeee
Thanks for sharing us this beautiful Art
@eveuncovered

It seems to be a very interesting. The pictures taken from difficult conditions almost with no light are very nice. Good job. Thank you. Can you tell what is the ISO ? I am just curious.

I was changing it up all the time, because the light kept changing, but I think I used ISO from 400 to 1200.

Thanks for information. This is a good value of ISO.

waooo felicitation,très créatif

Excellent i don't have words about this photos just amazing

i think Everybody don't respect underground photographers until they shoot somebody famous.... this is defintly ur shot... Neat Job mam..

Those sculptures are horrifying and disturbing in all the best ways. It's amazing that blown glass can look so organic and monstrous.

Like a collection of vivisected aliens, with beating hearts still circulating energy to the extremities.

You should hear the sound effects, heavy breathing, some sort of chanting and all sort of eery things. Oh, and there were some pipes that had a dark liquid running in them. The sculptures were so alive!

That sounds really intense. Definitely worth the trip to see it in person.

Do you know how long it'll be showing? We might be hopping the pond this Fall. Finland might be quite a detour, but... you never know.

I’m sure the exhibion will be somewhere else by then, I think it’s already been to London and New York. Maybe you can try to find out where it’s heading to next :)

Damn, missed London. Oh well. I'll check the schedule!

Ever been to the "Body Worlds" exhibitions where they show the preserved dissected cadavers? This glass-work reminds me of those.

Very beautiful works of a great artist

I love art in all its expressions and the images you published are fantastic. I hope to one day go to a museum and appreciate the beauty of art. Thanks for sharing friend. regards

Thanks so much for these amazing pics! I had to do a little research to find the location of the museum though. Please consider listing the City and State of the museum in the post.

We don’t have states is Finland. My post already tells everything you need to find the place ”Helsinki's Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma” and as a tag there is Finland, so it should not be too hard to figure out where in the world this place is.
