Photographer Francois Robert created a series of images in which he set a real human bones in the statue. It's entitled "Stop Violence", and serves as a warning against the tendency of humans to kill and destroy. In an interview about his work, Robert explains:
I have always been fascinated with skull (In my home town in Switzerland, my parents and I stayed at the top of Museum Natural). As I mentioned, I photographed more than 140 skulls from the Field Museum in Chicago, and it became a traveling exhibition across the US for 8 years (sponsored by the Museum). In the mid 90s, during the auction of the old school, I bought three metal lockers and to my surprise one of them holding a skeleton, a real full-size articulated. Over the years I have it displayed in one room in my studio and I often wondered what else I can do with it. Finally, the idea came to me to explore the idea of dismantling and re skeleton, and of the process of coming series "Stop Violence".
Oh, I haven't seen such material in work. A little bit scary, but creative anyway. And, as far as I see, bones are very good in illustrating war and death. Thank you.
