Today, I have the pleasure of talking a little about the life of an artist who has devoted her life to photography, although she has been subjected to many criticisms, the reality is that she has been a banner of feminism in all the good sense of the word, even when as a movement she didn't even pretend to appear. This is Cindy Sherman, an American photographer who lives in New York 1954, Buffalo, in 1977 begins his contact with the are because he lived at the home of his friend Robert Longo, were for the time followed very closely the conceptual art and performance widely used at the time.

Her interest was focused on photography two years before she had already taken her first graphics, all thanks to a class where she was given the task of making a photographic series, which she resolved by making a document of herself with different costumes. Her first photographs were in black and white although later she would begin to work with more forms and color, giving her more drama, her art is basically a sample of different facets of society and in most cases she herself is the subject to portray, creating costumes like costumes, and alternates with resources of mass culture as heroines of the fifties and sixties, many historical female characters and the same art, or its more grotesque side where he wears dolls with different types of prostheses, giving the feeling of being rotten, has also generated photographs based on the star system and sponsored in beauty magazines as the only canon of feminine beauty and socially accepted.

In addition to doing photography in the 90s, he made his first film Office Killer, which produced an intense influence on the new generations of feminist artists. Cindy Sherman is also influenced by artists like Barbara Kruger and Jenny Holzer.

Her art must be understood as conceptual, due to the variety of her themes, explores ancient painting with photographic techniques, addressing universal themes such as the social image of women, sexism and consumerism in contemporary society.

Currently feminism is a little distorted, by the action of some manifestations of different groups worldwide, which come to fall into the absurdity of their proposals claims, although these groups cannot against the genuine advancement of women, going from being a reified object to be equal to men in multiple aspects, equality seen from the patriarchal system, because naturally men and women are equal.

The problem continues to exist in different cultures that promote primarily through religion the bases of male chauvinism. And then there is the massive system of entertainment such as movies, radio, social networks, which continue to promote stereotypes of a weak woman who is destined to be a sexual object or to be kept clean at home.

From this perspective, Cindy Sherman's work is great because she has reached millions of people to position herself in spaces where many pretend to continue feeding the macho system, which is increasingly weakened and without arguments to continue mistreating women in order to maintain their status quo.
The bet is for more art of this caliber that floods the world, today we see men criticizing the reification of women, and women validating their reification, as in the case of reggaeton singers. The fight is strong and aggressive. But not impossible.
