Curious facts about art

in #art7 years ago

The Statue of Liberty, the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the Eiffel Tower, The Scream of Munch, etc. All these works of art are well known. However, they have some very interesting facts that have slipped under the radar of the culture. Whether they are things that disappeared years ago or things that have been hidden from view all the time, there are a lot of things that we have never heard of great works of art.

THE SECRET ROOM OF THE EIFFEL TOWER

The Eiffel Tower has a secret apartment hidden within its highest level. The apartment is owned by Gustave Eiffel, the engineer who designed the tower. In 1890, a year after the opening of the Eiffel Tower, the French writer Henri Girard declared that Gustave Eiffel was "an object of general envy" among the citizens of Paris.

This envy, according to Girard, was not inspired by the fame that Gustave gained by being the creator of the tower, or the fortune that the tower generates, but by the apartment of his property at the top of the tower. This apartment, which only had access to Eiffel, was home to many important visitors; Prominent among them was Thomas Edison. Eiffel would have received several substantial offers for a single night in the apartment.

The apartment, which had been closed for several years, was recently opened to the public. Today, it contains Eiffel and Edison mannequins. Realistic wax models represent the scene where Eiffel and his daughter Claire welcome Edison. Also recorded in the Eiffel Tower are the names of the 72 scientists and engineers who designed it.

THE INSPIRATION BEHIND THE SCREAM

From Edvard Munch, The Scream is one of the most iconic 20th-century paintings so iconic that it was stolen more than once.

According to Munch, the cry was inspired the day he walked with his friends and saw that "the sky turned red as blood," before feeling very tired and hearing a huge "infinite cry of nature. "For years it was thought of the inspiration Munch had had, until it was recently discovered that the sky on that day was probably actually red as a result of the 1883 eruption of Krakatoa in Indonesia.

The impact of the volcano felt as far as New York, where it was reported that the sky was red. This same impact was felt in the city of Munch two days later, with the city newspaper stating that "People thought it was fire: but in reality it was a red refraction in the misty atmosphere after sunset" Yes Well the terrifying scream in Munch's painting was imagined, the sky probably was not.

THE UNKNOWN ARCHITECT OF THE TOWER OF PISA

Also known as the Pending Tower of Pisa, the Leaning Tower of Pisa is a monument and a mystery. While the reason for its inclination is well known (it has a weak foundation), no one knows who designed it.

The tower was originally conceived as an independent bell tower for the city of Pisa cathedral. These towers were common in the 10th century in Italy, as they are believed to symbolize how powerful and wealthy the people were. The leaning tower of Pisa, however, was built to draw people to the cathedral in Pisa.

The main reason why no one knows who designed the tower is because it took almost 200 years to finish building it. Historians used to think that the tower was designed by Bonanno Pisano, but this is not true. An architect named Diotisalvi is one of the people most likely to have designed the tower because he designed the city's baptistery and bell tower San Nicola.

THE CHAIN AT THE FEET OF THE STATUE OF LIBERTY

In 2011, when asked what the Statue of Liberty symbolizes, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin said: "It is, of course, the symbol for Americans to remember the rest of the countries because this was a gift, Which warns us never to fall into the mistakes that some of these other countries had made. " Unfortunately, Sarah Palin was not right, because this statue represents the opposite. And like Palin, many people do not know of the connection of the statue with slavery.

Edouard de Laboulaye, a famous French politician and abolitionist, is the man behind the Statue of Liberty. He was a firm supporter of President Lincoln, who was fighting for the abolition of slavery. The statue was not a gift to warn the United States as Palin had stated. Instead, it was a gift to honor and celebrate freedom, democracy and the end of all forms of servitude. That's why Mrs. Liberty has a broken chain on her foot. The chain is usually invisible to tourists as it is below the dressing gown on the side of its left foot and can only be seen from the top.
