Good and true artists never understand what they do, they do not just follow their whims of fancy, they do not remind themselves of any previous rules or models. Instead, they live with courage and humility in the consciousness that they are touching something greater than themselves.
Creativity is the expression of the individual’s uniqueness. It is allowed to be different in even more ways than allowed by all other social forces. The personality is still sovereign vis-à-vis any claims for implicit standardization implied by such external pressures as large size or crowding into cities. We should find joy in being alive, but we should find it somewhere outside of life, somewhere there’s freedom from all earthly vicissitudes and cares.
Creativity can be thought of as tapping your natural abilities in the appropriate moments to come up with the fresh, workable solutions that elude conventional minds. Today's artists are able to move from rule to rule, or domain to domain, honing new skills and furthering their mastery of old ones.
Art can be seen as a path from one common mistake to another. It is not possible for any artist or writer to copy another person’s way of looking at things exactly or wishing oneself free in ways that are typically prohibited.
