It has been weeks since I painted or even drew something for my blog and for my own growth as an artist. But now that I have free time, I would love to spend it enhancing my skills. Well, if you consider mine as one.
For today, I would like to show you one of my favorite subjects, Koi fishes.
You can actually use your preferred brand. Whatever suits you would just be fine!
But for this one, I prefer watercolor cake since it gives a powdery effect and the color is lighter than Prang which I usually use. You can also use watercolor pencils as well. Those are actually sold in cheaper price except for those high class brands.
You can also opt to buy watercolors being sold by different people over instagram. Support your suppliers from your local too! I have seen a lot online who makes watercolors that are very pigmented.
First and foremost, I was so inspired by the variety of succulents that I have seen when I was in Malaybalay City few days ago. I used different shades of green that were available on my palette. If you only have one, you can mix your green with white, with bright yellow, or with blue! I do not actually have a reference photo for this one so I just allowed myself to imagine how it would look like and the incorporate different shades of green.
I used the paint dark red for the corner of the succulent's leaves to add accent to it. I also decided to put the succulent on top of a blue pot.
Fast-forward a little! Add some shades of blue and make a circle like image as if you put the succulent on top of a fishbowl. I used different shades of red and other pastel colors to make flowers and foliage. You can decide the design that you wish to incorporate on this one though. I know some of you here have tons of wonderful ideas that you can come up with.
To make this artwork more exciting, I decided to add some Koi fishes. Since I do not have a pencil, I used a black watercolor to trace its body. I also decided to put different colors of the Koi fishes which can usually be seen such as red, yellow, orange and black.
For the water surface, I used different shades of blue. For the corners of this artwork, I used dark tones of blue and even black .If you can observe, I also used watercolor pencil for the corners of the Koi fishes to add accent to it.
The final product would solely base on the hues that you prefer to use for this type of art project. You can even use extreme colors such as red for the water, or even blue for the Koi fishes. You just need to use your own imagination as how you wish to finish your art project.
Thank you for your support and I hope you had a great time with me. Have a happy Halloween guys!
