RBSA Prize Exhibition 2018

The deadline for the RBSA Prize Exhibition is next Wednesday the 28th March and I have decided to enter these 2 large figurative pieces. I finished them yesterday after leaving them without properly defined bodies for quite a long time, I had considered leaving them in there previous states but the collagraph was just not quite right.

So while most of the texture comes from the print I have used charcoal to define the body. I wanted some ambiguity though so have placed a bird in Sophia just able to make it, it reminds me of the cat in Gainsborough's Daughters that he hadn't finished painting in.

Last year I won second prize, I would obviously like to Win something this year but the competition at RBSA is getting tougher and tougher. People are now traveling long distances to enter RBSA exhibitions which can only be a good thing for us RBSA members and tougher competition will drive us to make better work.
But fingers crossed.
Wish me luck.

How large are they? Is it on paper or canvas or prints?

An interesting kind of creativity! Good luck!

Thank you.
