Hi guys!!!

I'm back and welcome to my artwork session.... especially to all the people who are new to my blog! Hello to all of you, I'm Tim and I post artwork related contens. As an artist, it´s a way I motivate myself to build my confidence. Not only that, it´s also my inspiration and my stress reliever.

Lately, I´ve been posting artwork contents from different medium using graphite pencils, charcoal, ballpoint, watercolor, pastels, and some are digital and animations.

The latest with me is...I ordered online some artwork materials which I simply wanted to try-out and explore although I'm not new to this medium anymore. They sent me prisma colored pencils along with a set of faber castell colored pencils. Both are well packaged and seems pretty okay.

Now I haven't tried prisma yet because it's a little bit pricey here in my country. I believe, this set is one of the best and expensive colored pencils along with the polychrome. If you compare the quality of these pencils to other cheap ones out there, you will be amazed by it's performance and quality giving you the colors that you wanted.

Today we're trying to make a portrait drawing of my favorite actress in the Philippines. Her name is Liza Soberano and if you check out my previous post, I already drew her using a graphite pencil. Her face is beautiful and always a great reference for drawing.

Here is the final drawing.

So I'm gonna give you some tips on how to use color pencil properly.

Materials

Prisma Premiere Colored Pencil
Graphite pencil
Worx Board Classic
Hardmuth Pencil Eraser

Here I used grid lines for the sake of our tutorial and to get that accuracy that we need. Although I rarely used grid lines, this will help you especially if you are a beginner as your guide. But I don´t recommend you to use grid lines a lot because it won't help you improve your drawing skills. Be more like traditional freehand guys.

Let's talk about skintone. If you dont Know, colors are not always flat. If you take a closer look to our skintone, it's not just a plain peach or brown color. It always has different colors blending with each other. To master colored pencisl, you need to learn how to blend colors to get that natural realistic look and color. Making a skintone is just simple. First of all, pick all the colors that you think is present in your skintone reference. Now I have these set with me from light peach to dark brown because I think these are all the colors I need.

Start with the lightest first and apply it gently. Lightest going to the darkest color and always remember to be smooth and gentle. Once you blend all together, it's time to make your blending smooth. Now use your colored pencil white to blend it smoothly. Press it harder so you eliminate those lumps and make it smooth. Take a look at this picture. The left image is not properly blend and the right one is smooth because I applied the white color already.

Same goes with the hair. Apply all the necessary colors that you need from the reference. And always know where the strands of hair goes so your stroke should follow the strands. Blend them in white also.
Here are some wip images I took

There is nothing more in this portrait and you don´t have to worry about some detail. Her hair is the most exposed and it´s where you should focus your attention. You will also notice that some white and brown strands are all over her hair which comes in different directions. I used my pencil eraser to get that strands and it's really hard to use a normal eraser because you need a pointed one to create that thin lines making the illusion.

Overall, be patient and take your time. The more time you work on it the better the result will be. So guys, be observant and it's not only about your skill but also your observation. If you have the knowledge even your not a skillful artist , I assure you will get good results.

That´s all for now. Thank you guys for being here and see you next time on my next artwork session .
Happy Drawing

I wish you all a beautiful Sunday and may God bless us all !!!

Bye!!!!
