For starters I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Kyle, I'm a 26 year old pen and ink artist based out of Arizona. I specialize with the use of micron pens. The technique I enjoy making art with is called pointillism or more commonly known as stippling with the action of putting down a lot of dots. This type of artwork is seen as time consuming but I see it as a form of mediation personally and I don't think there should be a time frame put on any form of artwork as the saying goes "don't rush an artist" and just take your time because the end result is an exhilarating feeling. It's patience within moments that create amazing works of art. So I stipple away...........
Pointillism is the method that uses many dots to form an image. I think somewhere within the history of the arts it can be acknowledged that Georges Seurat was perhaps a very famous Pointillist artist’s among the rest in his time and thereafter. He was a French artist living in the later 19th century who had developed the technique in 1886. Although I've seen some debate that Paul Signac came up with pointillism. I wouldn't argue who discovered it first, I'm just glad it's a medium and a way to express art.
I'm not sure if all modern day pointillist artist's recognize the original artist's who started using this technique long ago as I'll be honest in saying that Georges was not initially how I found out about pointillism. There are actually a handful of other artist that have used this method after it became more aware of with Georges first stippled art piece as seen below. Some of the others include Paul Signac, Henri-Edmond Cross, Maximilien Luce & Charles Angrand. I suggest taking a look at their work too as you may find them all very intriguing. I think they should be taken into recognition with some appreciation or value as they were just as amazing as Georges works in my opinion.

In today’s world with the original form of pointillism I see few serious practitioners but there are still many artist out there who are experimenting with this method more so with technical/micron pens, tattoo work and digital art. You can find a plethora of pointillism images on Instagram or anywhere on the internet as it's pretty much endless. While most stippled works use ink I don't see a lot of dotwork with paint while excluding my star dots in my artwork I mean to say a full art piece image made entirely of just dots. This is something I've considered trying out one of these days. I do follow one artist on Instagram who uses painted dots for all of his work but as for anyone else I follow they use ink.
So what's the exact technique of pointillism? Pointillism was commonly used with paint and is a bit different from ink pointillism but not by much! The technique requires the ability for our eyes and the mind while viewing an image to blend the color points into a full range with tones. In this perspective it takes over in the way our eyes work with our mind. Instead of seeing thousands of individual colored dots, our eyes start to blend the dots of color into an assortment of colors that then form the image entirely.
Below is a pointillism piece I created with colored Sakura Micron pens. I call this one "Cosmic Rose". If you view this from a much further perspective you can probably see what I mean on how the colors of red dots and green dots start to blend and it gives off that illusion as if it's more so a solid color.
For my first pointillism art piece I created my own mandala/yantra. I felt like at the time I should've started out with something simple and by the end of it's creation I think it turned out great! What do you think?

To this day I've so far created a total of 6 art pieces and working on a new one right now. Here are just a few fan favorites down below. Enjoy!
