Watercolor painting of an old man (process photos)

Hi steemians sharing the process for a recent watercolor painting with you of an old man.

Process

General pencil outline to begin with.

I find starting with the skin tone best with watercolors. I used a lot of water to begin with to spread the paint over the face.

It took between 2-3 hours to do. The watercolors I used were quite hard to get darker tones with so had to use multiple layers and ink for the eyes and under nose. This may look more like an oil painting than watercolor because it is quite overworked. It's a different style and will focus on more watercolor simplicity in future.

I really like it! It looks a little different than 'normal' watercolors, but that's definitely not what needs a change here. It gives more of a unique feel!
