It is a genuine question from a confused college student. I am trying to become a Graphic Designer. The art teachers will not put my peers and my art works in any of the galleries. What we do is isn't considered art to them.
Here is a poster I did last semester.
What is it; if it isn't art?
This is considered art?
Is this art as well?
I'd like to know why my art isn't art. The teachers will not answer that question. I have no idea why.
I look forward to your input on this.
Thank you.
It seems to me that there is brainwashing involved as to what constitutes good art. For some time, conceptual art has been promoted, and that's what is displayed in the photos where you ask why it is art. In conceptual art, or conceptualism, the idea behind the art is considered more important than the art itself, if there even is a resulting piece.
I say that brainwashing must be involved because somehow they teach art students that art must be unique and not commercial. Go figure, that commercial art sells while we stare at conceptual art and wonder why.
Okay. That makes since. Thank you.
It was bothering me why the art teachers wouldn't even have the conversation with my peers and I about it. Meanwhile, the tech. Teachers (who are retired from Digital art like careers) were scratching there heads confused like us.
They might snobbishly say that your art is too commercial but normal people prefer it. Don't give up.
Thank you.
