Hello!
I would say Happy Monday, but it hasn't been that great, although it is better now that I am off of work. I kept pulling bad work that had lots of research and it was not fun ! Life is always supposed to be fun.. .right ?? LOL... I know, I know....not. Phooey.....
Then I was going to whip right over here and put up this little post and get on with several other things I need to get done this evening, but did it go up fast ??? NO! I couldn't get a decent photo. I had some photos, but thought on one I needed a better one. In a nutshell, the art was behind glass and try as I may with different angles, I couldn't keep my reflection and the reflections of other things out of it. So I took out the glass to try again and I didn't want to do that because yesterday when I took it apart to clean the glass, the little metal thingys that keep the back on kept falling out of the frame and it took a while to get it back together....AND.... it will take a while again as I left it apart on the art table till after I post.
See.... it couldn't just be smooth or today wouldn't really be Monday.
Here is a stranger's collage art that I saved yesterday. When I didn't go to Mom's, I decided to do a couple of very light errands and stop in the local Good Will that I had found last month. It's not a huge one and in some areas the offerings are a bit sparse, but I didn't want to spend all day there anyway, so it worked out fine. There is a small area beside where the books are that has some random frames and a few decorative wall items. I was glancing down the shelf with a quick eye at the inventory. I wasn't really there for frames, but you never know. All of the sudden, I realized this frame had art in it that was not a print. When I looked closer, I saw that it was a real handmade paper collage. Now you know I am foolish about collage stuff right now. It had been matted and framed though, so at least at some time, for some reason, someone had cared about it. I would have wanted it no matter what the design would have been, but thankfully it was colorful, which I love and I didn't even hesitate, I put it right in my bag. $2.99... you really can't go wrong with that. I couldn't leave it there among the junked frames, I just couldn't. Somebody needed to love it again.

I was quite happy with my prize. It looked most likely to be made with colorful tissue paper at first and maybe it mostly is, I can't be postive, but some of the papers appeared to have fiber in them, which means it can't all be tissue. Maybe it is a mix, but some of it is either rice paper or mulberry paper or something kin to those.
The frame had some light stains on it as if damp at some time, but the mat did not have any dampness damage. There was a tiny spot or two on it or between it and the glass. A while after I got home, I took it apart and cleaned the frame, but the light stains would not come off. Fortunately though, the small specs were actually on the inside of the glass and not on the mat.
My mind wonder around for it's story that I would never know. AT first I wondered could it be a child's work, but somehow the words "Grace of Sky & Earth" didn't sound quite like a child. If the symbols of another language actually says something, I wouldn't know, but I liked that it was part of the art.

I didn't take the little piece of art off of it's mat, but when I took the rest apart to clean the glass back and front, I really was hoping there would be a signature or some initials and a year. I still most likely would never have known who it was, but it would have been fun if something had been there.
Alas... there was nothing.
That's ok though, because I am fond of it all the same.

I've been trying not to do much EXTRA whim buying while I am out on the treasure hunt for collage things, but I saw this cedar wood cigar box and thought maybe I could paint it or collage it or.... something. Even if not, it's a nice little box. I liked it's hinges and latches. I looked up the cigars that came in it and when this was full, it may have cost from $140 on sale, up to $180+. Someone had some nice cigars that had been made in Honduras. I don't know very much about cigars it is true, but it almost made me want to try one. LOL !!!

That's about it for today. Now on to take care of a few other little things and today's requirements will be done.....

..... and it will be time to play at my art table till bedtime.
Hope everyone's Monday was smoother than mine.
Love you !
