Art & Stuff.....

I'm back ! 😂

More art and drivel. I'm not sure about what. What do you want to know ????
Sometimes when I am in my work corner, working away, a thought will pass through my mind and I might think it would be something good or maybe not good, but different to say on my posts. Sometimes I hear something on a podcast that I think might be fun to mention. Sometimes I jot things down, but then somehow it doesn't sound like that good of an idea later. LOL !!
One thing I heard was about something they called a Living Eulogy. It was about writing a letter to those you deeply love and tell them all the things about them that you think is special and how they have affected your life. I think one thing that made it sound a bit different, was just calling it a Eulogy, a word usually used for things that are written or told about someone after they already passed. I suppose it is not that far fetched when you think about being grateful and appreciative of those you love, but who writes the letter before they are gone, just so they know? Maybe a lot of people do it and I am the last to know, but either way, I thought it was a fine idea and I don't know what I will or won't do, but I am certainly going to mull it over a little and see what happens.
This first little piece of art I made the other night. I had put the background on because I loved the orange mottled paper and then I added the swirly strip of paper and a few other fushia accents. At that point, I had no idea what to do with it and I also knew it needed some sort of very different focal point(s). I was fiddling through my pile of papers, trying to determine what that might be. I had a black piece of mulberry paper that has lots of fibers in it that I had stenciled a design on in multi-colored paints. I was sitting there tearing bits off of it, trying to make a rough circle to lay on the background to see if I could like it when a couple of the bits landed on the piece and VWA-LA.... the black moths flew in and it was done. A perfect accent I thought...a perfect finish.

Sometimes you have to be thoughtful about how deep of sentimental things you do, lest your family wonder if you are dying and getting your ducks in a row. It made me laugh to type that but..... back in June, one Friday evening, a Friday that was a payday, I went online and ordered stuff from about 3 different places. Mostly it was art related stuff and a type of paint I had wanted to try because it was supposed to be all the rage, but was expensive, well, expensive compared to paints I had used before. I also bought a bunch of stencils and some new-to-me types of papers and quite honestly, I don't know what all.
It was evening time and I was feeling good, like I had just ordered an entire Christmas morning for myself. 🎅 In the happy emotions of the moment, I messaged my older sister and told her I was on a spending spree and asked her if there was anything she wanted or needed. Of course she hestated.... and said no at first, but I quipped back "was she sure?".... because I was in the moment and was ready to buy her something. In the mean time, I sent a message to my younger sister and asked her the same thing. Of course she also said she was good and I then told her she was missing out ! ha ha ..... I told her it was Spending Spree Friday and who knew when that might happen again. After a few moments of back and forth, she asked me if I was ok and was there something wrong with me that I wasn't telling. She may have used different words from that, but basically, that is what she said.
I laughed and laughed here by myself and told her if there was something way wrong with me, I didn't know it yet ! So in the end, my older sister wanted new corn dishes because she was down to her last one and at the time it was the beginning of fresh corn-on-the-cob season here and my younger sister opted for a bread baking kit. She had been playing with making some homemade breads and had seen a kit that had some tools that looked fun to use, but had not bought it because it wasn't a need. Neither of the items would have been considered expensive, but as they told me, I went right onto Amazon, ordered what they wanted and had it sent to them.
It was SO much fun !
The point going back to though, when things get to "givey" and sentimental, other's might wonder if you are dying and just haven't told them yet. Therefore, a letter telling them all that they are and have been to me, might cause an stir !

Scrapple ! 😄 Last night I worked a long time on a different little piece. Finally the background was just right ! However, the piece became snobby and refused to accept any of the finishing touches I tried, so I showed it who was boss !.... and put it aside. LOL ! Then, just to give myself the "I finished something" satisfaction, I made this colorful little piece with the scraps around my work area. It made me smile !

It's 4:30'ish here on Saturday afternoon. I worked till 1, put in some laundry, ran the dishwasher and later unhooked it. Put some clothes in the dryer and more in to wash. I took photos of my art and random other straightening things. We got part of the storm night before last as I may have told before, but for now it is sunny and HUMID ! My 80something year old Uncle is mowing on his giant mower. The ground is too wet for that ! I hope he doesn't get stuck somewhere. There will still be areas where he spins off the grass as he rides around and turns on it pretty fast. 🤣 Maybe it will grow back next summer !
Ok, I hope you are happy now. I pretty much am myself.
I also hope the rest of your weekend goes nicely.
Love you !
Jacey

I love the moths!

Hope all your family and friends made it through the storm with no damage!

Thank you !

Even though they gave our area here in upper mid-state those terrible warnings, the storm turned more to the western part of the state and Tennessee. We did have off and on hard rain and a good bit of hard wind, but it was nothing like what they had predicted for us and our area was not devastated like those in and near the mountains. I was happy for us, but so sad to see all the videos of the massive flooding. My heart goes out to them all.

The devastation caused by this storm makes me sick to my stomach. My cousin in Ashville has trees down, but is safe. So many of the places they are showing on the news are places I have been to and it is heartbreaking to see.
