It's Friday Eve and all is well. Family gathering coming up this weekend.
Tonight is hair washing night, well, I don't mean Thursdays are always hair washing days, but tonight it is time. I need to finish loading the dish washer and fold a basket of towels.... and play in the paints ! The latter of which is all I really want to do, but I'm going to try to make myself get the other three done before I land at the art table. It's really hard to do that. LOL....but I'll try.
As you can imagine, making and tearing and cutting papers for this fun mixed media stuff causes there to be various random pieces left over. That's not a big deal mostly, because they can be used on many future pieces where small bits might add something fun to a piece.
The question is, how small do they have to be, before they are just trash ?! I'm not really sure, but I'm trying to learn. Do I throw it away... or put it in a box... throw it away?... put it in a box??
Where is the "hmmmmmm" icon when you need it?
Last night, what did I do? You guessed it, more papers and stencils. I was watching a video and someone used a piece of thin paper with white round things on it against some dark background and I thought... HEY... I need white stuff too, so I made some.
The four smaller pieces on the front were blotty papers except for the black circles, but I wanted to put blue on one of them, so I did.
As you can see I used white paint with various stencils and a tiny bit of free hand with a brush in a leftover area. I also used some yellow that was darker than I liked, but oh well. The other one on the bottom right is all done with a brush. I'm sure you could tell that by how amazingly complicated it is.
I'm still thinking parts of it could look good somewhere, so I'll try them out on something later. Not all together of course, just bits and pieces.
The pink is rice paper and I think the pink will be lighter once glued. One day, we'll see if what I think is right.... or not.
Ok... side show... what is this?
It's the ballon below after I deflated it a few days after I used it to make painty papers. I put it in the trash after the blurry photo, but I'm thinking I should have kept it and put it on some future piece. LOL.... well???
One day when I was playing with my new inks, I wasn't getting much great out of them, so I took the paper the blotches were on and stenciled it. I really like the circle stencil. I thought the paper looked neat with the stencil laying on it.
....and I thought it looked neat before I took the stencil away....
..... and after... this is what I had. I haven't used any of it yet on anything, but I think parts of it will be fun to use one day.
One more smidgen to share, the other day when I showed you more black and white papers I made because I squirted out too much paint and didn't want to waste it, I didn't show this last one where I got tired of doing that and took my scraper and swished the rest of the paint over another piece of paper. Lovely... right ?
...but I knew I could do this with it and either use the cutouts or pieces of what was left on..... something.
Ok... that's about all for show and tell now. I got to get those other things done so I can go play some more.
